PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST/Alcohol & Drug Department (GRANT FUNDED): Under general supervision, performs functions as a team and recovery support, utilizing the pillars of Peer Recovery Support Services in a community and office setting. This position is GRANT-FUNDED through September 2025. The Peer would be working with a team of first responders to do community outreach to overdose victims, community education, referral and support to potential Beaufort Alcohol and Drug Abuse patients and their families, as well as essential data collection.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  •    Two (2) years of recovery from substance use disorder with current participation in mutual ("self") help program

  •    High school diploma or GED

  •    Peer Recovery Support Specialist or Recovery Coach Certified preferred

  •    Strong customer service skills required

  •    Strong technology (computer and use of spreadsheets) necessary

  •    Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license

All applicants tentatively selected for a position with Beaufort County Council will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for the illegal use of drugs and to a background check prior to appointment. Employment is contingent upon clearing both the drug screening and background investigation. Beaufort County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
