The work of Peer Success Coaches centers on promoting the success and retention of first-year students and specialized populations (in collaboration with Student Affairs Departments & Programs) at Chandler-Gilbert
Community College.
The peer success coaches assist the department and college reach retention goals via success
communications, individualized coaching and support to an assigned cohort of students, and non-traditional support for at-risk students.
These individuals will promote retention and increased course completion rates of students
enrolled in FYE, critical, and gateway courses via coaching and modeling of effective strategies. Peer success coaches are visible leaders at first-year experiences events: participating in presentations, leading Welcome Week events, and providing guidance in orientations. They also play a crucial role in supporting continuing adult nontraditional students, offering personalized assistance to students to ensure their continued success and integration into the collegeenvironment.
This is a temporary part-time position with yearly renewal based the needs of the department.
Recruiting Location:
Pecos & Williams Rotation.
Essential Functions
first-year and underrepresented students.
25% Collaborate directly with Student Affairs units to implement and/or support retention strategies. Provide institutional resources, assistance, and guidance to students of similar majors or interests.
25% Assist with the planning, facilitation, and execution of department-related activities and other college events.
15% Support and coach students enrolled in FYE, critical, or gateway courses. May participate and/or lead activities in an FYE class under the direction of the course instructor.
10% Attends departmental meetings, training sessions, and professional development
opportunities; performs other duties as assigned.
