Overview

This position provides administrative support for the Journals Editorial Department specifically assisting in the launch, support, and maintenance of SAGE Track sites and by assisting with various peer review projects. The main goals of this position are as follows:

  • Provide support on SAGE Track by building and launching sites, training editors through demonstrations (live and via phone and the web), supporting editors, reviewers and authors as needed, and making required configuration changes to sites.

  • Provide support required to maintain SAGE Track sites through configuration updates.

  • Provide managing editor services on at least one SAGE journal.

  • Provide support on various editorial and peer review projects, as needed.

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities

The essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:

SAGE Track:

  • Work with journal editorial offices to configure sites as required.

  • Oversee training of journal editorial offices, including training around peer review best practices

  • Monitor and respond to technical support e-mail and phone calls from editors, authors and reviewers.

  • Support SAGE's editorial and production staff with SAGE Track and peer review-related needs.

  • Correspond with contacts at ScholarOne on a regular basis for support and assistance, as needed.

  • Build and run SAGE Track reports as required.

  • Configure updates required to maintain SAGE Track sites.

  • Support the Peer Review Manager as needed on projects or activities related to peer review implementation and management.

Managing Editor:

  • Provide managing editor services on one or more journals by using SAGE Track to drive manuscripts through the peer review process.

  • Communicate with the Editor, Society, Associate Editors, Reviewers and Authors as needed.

  • Communicate with internal SAGE staff in Editorial, Production, Publishing Technologies, Marketing, Circulation, Commercial Sales and others as needed.

  • Produce reports as requested by the editor.

  • Deliver accepted manuscripts to production according to their scheduling needs.

  • Work with ScholarOne to improve the journal's SAGE Track site as needed.

Assistant Support:

  • Provide backup support to Journals Editorial, as needed.

  • Help with printing, shipping, filing or other administrative tasks as needed.

  • Assist in hosting office visitors, as requested.

  • Carry out multiple support tasks as directed.

  • Perform daily work with moderate supervision.

  • Represent and act as ambassador for SAGE externally, by phone, and e-mail as well as in person.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

The additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Work with academic/professional editors and internal staff (including Editorial Assistants, Production, Marketing and Sales, Art/Design, Information Technology and Contracts) to support the journals program and acquisitions activity.

  • Support SAGE's other peer review activities by serving as an in-house managing editor on one or more journals and/or supporting other in-house or freelance managing editors.

  • Assist management in creation and development of special projects, as defined by management.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Education

  • Bachelor's degree required.

  • A minimum of one year of general office experience.

  • Excellent English verbal and written business communication skills.

  • Computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point; familiarity with ScholarOne Manuscripts is desirable.

VIEW JOBS 11/11/2018 12:00:00 AM 2019-02-09T00:00 Overview This temporary position is part of the Technology Governance and Innovation team within Global Technology. The successful temporary will be specifically focused on accelerating the migrations of SharePoint-2013 (SP-13) sites to SharePoint in the Microsoft Cloud (SP-MC), though some SharePoint 2007 (SP-07) work also may be required. This is a temporary assignment for 5-8 months, depending on the sustained work load. The successful candidate will coordinate and/or conduct specific assigned migrations and document the related standard SAGE migration practices and specific site work practices managed in SharePoint. This latter task is baseline expert user and end-user guidance, generally in PowerPoint, rather than formal technical documentation. Candidates should be self-motivated and have an analytical approach with excellent attention to detail. The role requires frequent communication across SAGE which should be conducted in a professional and courteous manner. In particular, the candidate must be able to communicate technical content in a straightforward way to non-technical and untrained content coordinators in SAGE user departments. Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities The successful candidate will accelerate migration of SP-13 sites to the Microsoft Cloud by: * documenting standard procedures for non-complex migrations (including post-migration end-user "guidance/help" content); * coordinating SP-13 site clean-ups with business teams (as well as similar work with any remaining SP-07 sites); * performing technical tasks, based on the documentation, to implement the core SP-MC site content infrastructure appropriately on relevant sites/sub-sites, including Team sites, "Site Page" home pages, Site Pages and Site Assets content libraries management, etc; * coordinating SP-MC site content design, implementation and testing; * coordinating the migration event, including the migration work-session as well as updating content map links to the newly migrated content sources; * escalating issues as required. Qualifications & Education * Relevant skills/background/experience: * Strong basic SharePoint "expert user" experience. Familiarity with SharePoint in MS–Cloud and Office-365 are desirable but not essential. * Strong "semi-technical" writing skills: ability to document essential migration practices and user guidance in a medium like PowerPoint, MS Word or Microsoft OneNote. * Ability to plan, track and execute simple project plans for multiple concurrent department site migrations (focus on milestones rather than detailed tasks). * Ability to communicate in a consistently positive manner, in-person, by voice/phone and through informal media (email/texting). * College degree preferred though not required.
