Job Title Peer Recovery Specialist Department Psychology - 21700 Pay Grade 8 Job Category Support Staff Job Summary
ETSU is accepting applications for a Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) to join the treatment team of The Gambling Clinic (TGC).
TGC treatment provides comprehensive care and support for those seeking to change their gambling through individual treatment services. The PRS will be a trusted confidant, role model, and mentor to assigned TGC clients by sharing their own lived experiences with personal recovery from addiction and by providing feedback on the recovery process under the structure and guidance of the TGC program.
The PRS is responsible for helping clients at TGC achieve individualized treatment and recovery goals. This person will assist the TGC team in conducting outreach activities that improve access to TGC services for all Tennesseans and promote general awareness of gambling-related problems. This position will work closely with TGC clinicians and follow the leadership of TGC Directors and TGC coordinator. The PRS plays an integral role in the TGC treatment team by helping maximize each TGC client's success while contributing to the growth of the research evidence to support peer work in gambling treatment systems.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of client-centered models of treatment and motivational styles of communication.
Knowledge of how to find and effectively use the information given by informational databases, clinic staff, and clinic supervisors.
Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and comprehend instructions (whether written or verbal), correspondence, professional journals, and technical procedures.
Ability to compose correspondence, document effectively, present information, and respond to questions in one-on-one and small group situations with clients, third parties, and TGC staff whether in person, on the telephone, or virtually (e.g. Zoom).
Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries, complaints, or situations.
Ability to collect data, draw valid conclusions, use sound judgment, and problem-solving.
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with TGC staff and external organizations.
Ability to operate standard office equipment and software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office).
Ability to listen to, and be responsive to supervision.
Ability to organize tasks and follow through on tasks assigned.
Required Qualifications
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with individuals who have a gambling or behavioral addiction. May be substituted for experience with substance use disorder addiction.
A degree focused on psychology, social work, or a related field.
Knowledge of cognitive-behavioral models of behavior change.
Certification as a Certified Peer Recovery Specialist.
Experience with program evaluation, quality metrics, and outcome data tracking.
