Brandywine Counseling and Community Services is seeking a Peer Recovery Specialist for our Milford Drop-in Center!
The PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST will educate and empower individuals by assisting them in developing a strong, stable recovery support system. The Peer Recovery Specialist does this by assisting individuals with self-care and self-awareness, encouragement and support, teaching coping skills and teaching the positive benefits of long-term recovery.
The PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST is primarily responsible as a case manager to assigned clients. The PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST is responsible for providing quality, sufficient and appropriate services and for maintaining high professional standards.
Supports clients in building social skills in the community that will enhance job acquisition.
Models effective coping techniques and self-help strategies.
Performs all other duties as assigned by the Peer Recovery Supervisor.
Supports clients in articulating personal goals for recovery and wellness and the objectives necessary to reach his or her recovery and wellness goals.
Teaches clients how to facilitate their recovery
Teaches clients techniques for identifying and combatting negative self-talk, identifying, and overcoming fears.
Teaches and role models the value of every individuals recovery experience.
Utilizes and teaches problem-solving techniques with individuals and groups.
Completes wellness plans- makes appropriate referrals to outside agencies
Qualifications:
REQUIRED: High School Diploma or GED
REQUIRED: Must be over 18 years of age.
REQUIRED: Must have a valid driver's license with 2 points or less
May need to use your own vehicle if a BCCS car is not available.
REQUIRED: Must be a Peer.
BCCS employs a diverse workforce, and we especially encourage applications from those who are in recovery. This position requires that the candidate chosen for it is a peer. BCCS defines a peer as anyone who is in recovery from addiction to drugs, alcohol, or mental health.
REQUIRED: Minimum of 2 years in recovery
PREFERRED: Certified Peer Recovery Specialist (CPRS).
If you are not certified, certification is required within the first year of employment.

Starting at $18/hour
Commensurate with experience, education, and certification!
