TITLE: Peer Recovery Coach- ACT Program
SUMMARY:
Recovery coaches work with individuals in services to provide hope, encouragement, support, self- determination, and connection. Provide direct peer support services to persons in recovery under supervision of the service or program coordinator. Support the treatment planning and treatment implementation of persons in recovery through orientation, direct peer-to-peer services, and participation/leadership in wellness activities.
Function as a role model to peers, exhibiting competency in recovery concepts and use of coping skills. Serve as an advocate providing recovery information and peer support for persons in outpatient and inpatient settings. Assist persons in recovery in regaining independence within the community and mastery over their own recovery process.
Must be a person with lived experience who has met the criteria for a diagnosed mental, behavioral, substance abuse or emotional disorder at some point in their adult life. A Recovery Coach must demonstrate stability in own recovery for a significant period of time and demonstrate a willingness to identify self as a person in recovery.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Education: Bachelors Degree is required.
Licensure: Valid driver's license
Certification: Certification as a Peer Support Recovery Specialist from the respective state department or eligibility for certification (with the expectation that this will be attained as soon as possible).
Experience: Past/present utilization of mental health or SUD services required.
Knowledge/Skills: Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to drive and has own transportation.
Must have intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office programs.
Must possess excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to form meaningful relationships with individuals in recovery.
Must have the ability to work as a team member and function well in social settings. Must have excellent reading comprehension and retention of information.
Must have the ability and willingness to accept direction and adhere to appropriately established boundaries.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Orient individuals to the agency and
Provide transportation of individuals in 15-passenger
Develop meaningful relationships with individuals in
Provide support to individuals and family
Demonstrate knowledge of and commitment to recovery
Assist staff in providing recovery
Demonstrate commitment to continued education on wellness and
Participate in required meetings and trainings as determined by
Assist individuals in discussing and identifying personal goals for
Maintain accurate peer support records to
Model hope, personal responsibility, regular use of wellness tools (such as WRAP), and self-advocacy by sharing his or her personal recovery story, how recovery goals can be respectfully met and how a belief in self is maintained
Assist professional staff in identifying program environments that are conducive to recovery; lend own unique insight into mental illness and what makes recovery
Attend relevant seminars, meetings, and in-service trainings, including out-of town trainings, as directed.
Provide assistance to professional staff in linking individuals to services and helping individuals obtain services such as Social Services, medical services, housing,
