Job Description

The intern is a 12 or 13 week program for students seeking careers in the field of healthcare. The intern must be currently enrolled in a degree seeking program or with a career focus in the healthcare industry.

The intern shall be exposed to multiple levels of the organization. Projects will be guided by members of the senior management team. Projects may be related to clinical ancillary regulatory operational or fiscal issues as identified and agreed upon by the Director of HR and the intern.

The intern will be responsible for coordinating all activities related to each project and will work with managers and staff level employees to identify issues and provide resolutions for each project although the intern may not be responsible for final implementation of proposed resolutions. This position is not eligible for temporary and permanent employment based visa sponsorship. At SLCHS, meet and plan with other peer mentor team members to provide peer to peer tutoring and academic support to enhance learning and higher levels of achievement in course work during the junior year. Oversee Open Lab and direct students to supplemental resources and classroom materials to guide them during skills practice to support simulation lab and clinical skills required for mastering nursing skills techniques.

The Certified Peer Rehabilitation Specialist provides supportive services for clients who are experiencing troubles as a result of a disability (primarily mental illness). Services may include independent living skill building, community integration, job skill training, psycho-educational classes, rehabilitation planning, community activities, client and family education, coordination of services, client or self advocacy, referral to other service providers, and crisis support. The Certified Peer Rehabilitation Specialist will meet productivity standards and documentation requirements to assure the viability of the program success and client outcomes. The Certified Peer Rehabilitation Specialist functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team for client care and services. The Certified Peer Rehabilitation Specialist works under the regular supervision and direction of a Supervisor, Coordinator-Manager, Program Director, or a Qualified Mental Health Professional. Required Skills 1. High school degree or equivalent. 2. Certified as a Peer Rehab Specialist, and maintains current certification. 3. Must be a primary mental health consumer (diagnosed as having a mental illness) and willing to share the personal experiences of recovery. 4. Good written and verbal communication skills. 5. Work with people in a team setting. 6. Demonstrate ability to respectfully motivate other consumers to act on their own behalf and to participate in activities. 7. Able to engage clients in one-on-one and in small groups. 8. Speak and read English. 9. If driving is a requirement for the employee, he/she must meet the requirements specified in the Fleet Driving Safety and Compliance Policy and must continue to meet these requirements as a condition of employment. 10. Completion of training as directed through orientation and/or by Leadership, Management or Educators in the established timeline for continued employment. Truman Medical Centers Kansas City MO
