The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, Division of Mental Hygiene seeks a Peer Corps Coordinator for its Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Use Prevention, Care and Treatment (BADUPCT). BADUPCT works to reduce morbidity and mortality related to alcohol and substance use among New Yorkers. BADUPCT develops, implements and evaluates interventions and prevention strategies through: Contracting of treatment, recovery and support services; Policy analysis and development; Epidemiology and surveillance; Dissemination of treatment and management guidelines; Harm reduction initiatives; Public and provider outreach and education and; Community involvement and interagency collaboration.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The Peer Corps Coordinator, reporting to the Peer Corps Manager, is responsible for the day to day operations of the Peer Corps project, in conjunction with the Peer Corps Manager. This involves the hiring, training and placing peers into Peer Corps internships. Providing ongoing supports and assistance to the Peer Corps members and placement sites.

The Peer Corps Coordinator will be responsible for the following activities, including but not limited to:

  • Liaison with NYC Service and programs hosting PeerCorps members.
  • Direct supervision of the PeerCorps Specialist.
  • Recruit, interview and orient 20 PeerCorps members annually.
  • Develop and provide training to PeerCorps members and task supervisors on a range of topics designed to orient them to the PeerCorps role.
  • Provide additional supervisory support to 8-10 of the PeerCorps members.
  • Develop mechanisms for data collection and reporting.
  • Write monthly progress reports including data and narrative for internal oversight and NYC Service.
  • Other related duties as assigned.


  • Minimum, a Bachelors degree, in a related subject.
  • The successful candidate will have experience with substance use and vocational services.
  • This candidate will also have demonstrated competence/experience in program/training development and in peer support as well as strong interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written.

CUNY designs and implements a city-wide initiative, connecting high school and college success in mathematics and computer science. Roughly 200 tutors are working with teachers across the city to provide individualized attention to students and access to current computer science content to teachers. The program's aim is to reduce barriers to STEM academic and professional achievement and to improve the confidence, academic performance, and college and career readiness of CUNY Tutors and NYC DOE students. The Tutor Corps Program, housed in the Office of Academic Affairs and located in downtown Brooklyn, is seeking an Administrative Coordinator to perform comprehensive administrative work supporting the centralized management of all tutor operations for Central Office, partner CUNY colleges, and NYC public middle and high schools. This individual will be responsible for (a) organizing data to move tutors through the application process quickly; (b) processing tutors through the Department of Education Personnel Eligibility Tracking System; and (c) following up with HR offices on different campuses regarding timesheet concerns. The Administrative Coordinator coordinates the efficient daily functioning, financial and staffing management activities of the program across multiple college campuses and public schools. This includes organizing and streamlining workflow processes for recruitment, on-boarding, and related staffing activities. The position reports to the Tutor Corps Program Manager. Other key duties include, but will not be limited to the following: * Coordinate administrative and operational program activities and processes across campuses, including meeting arrangements, event logistics and complex agendas. * Support in school part-time tutor recruitment and invoice process for participating schools. * Assist with analyzing program operations and activities. * Assist with preparing, updating and disseminating program reports and communications. * Organize materials and communications for training sessions, events, and meetings. * Coordinate and confirm the attendance, timesheets, and support needs of college students. * Maintain all partnership and program database systems and records.
