About the job:

This position fulfills the State Opioid Response (SOR) grant requirements of empowering mental health and addiction consumers and family members by assuring that their interests are represented and their input is considered in all planning and policy development activities. The position assist the Bureau chief Office for Consumer and Family Affairs to provide an "internal" voice for consumers and family members through participation in all Family and Social Services Administration (FSSA), Division of Mental Health and Addiction (DMHA) mental health planning and policy development activities and consumer focused activities.

A day in the life:

  • Manages Consumer operated business contract

  • Manages Clubhouse Certification

  • Provide recovery speakers for MHAPAC, All Staff and other committee meetings as needed

  • Assist in the development, implementation and oversight of CRS Training and Certification policies and procedures

  • Assist in management of special projects i.e. BRSS TACS, Recovery Supports Workgroup

  • Research grant opportunities to fund peer initiatives and draft applications

  • Conducts quarterly call with CRSs to discuss employment or other work issues

  • Attends SPH Governing Body meetings and leads efforts to employ peers into SOF Workforce

  • Keeps apprised of Olmstead issues through participation in national and regional calls

  • Web site/marketing content drafting

  • Will assist in screening of CRS Applications

  • Assist Bureau chief with visits to CMHCs to educate and promote the CRS program and development of Consumer advisory councils

What we're looking for:

  • Minimum: Must demonstrate long term mental health and/or addiction recovery or lived experience. HS diploma or GED and CRS certification required. Bachelors preferred.

  • Contract or grant management experience preferred.

  • Must have reliable transportation,.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft office.

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

  • Extensive personal knowledge of consumer issues and concerns through being self-identified as a primary consumer.

  • Broad knowledge of addictions, seriously mental ill (SMI) populations, Substance Use Disorder (SUD) and treatment options.

  • Ability to identify, analyze, summarize, and communicate information and to formulate recommendations as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

  • Skill in coordination and management for working with other agency staff, advisory groups and committees to achieve desired outcomes.

  • Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders including consumers, family members, advocates, and providers of mental health and/or addiction services.

  • Knowledge of planning, program development and evaluation methods.

  • Knowledge of, and preferably work experience within, the community mental health service provider system.

  • Knowledge and experience specific to consumer, family, advocacy organizations issues and concerns

  • Skill in providing effective training to specific and general audiences.

  • Ability to gather, analyze and disseminate information on current and proposed laws, plans, policies and rules that impact consumers and family members.
