Description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Facilitate weekly group study sessions that average 3 hours per week (evenings preferred)
Provide academic mentoring regarding success skills (see qualifications) by appointment and during walk-in hours (to be determined based on your schedule and department need)
Collaborate with Residence Life to deliver presentations on various academic skills and strategies to student organizations and in residence halls
Collaborate with First Year Mentors to plan and support programming
Connect students to campus resources that address the needs of the whole student
Represent the Student Success Center at Campus Visit Days and other department and university events
Participate in the marketing and promotion of the Student Success Center events and services
Be available to attend training (TBA)
Work with CSS staff on special projects related to student success
Other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS PEER ACADEMIC MENTOR:
Be entering their third semester at MHU, have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher, be in good judicial standing, have a strong desire to assist other students with identifying and overcoming barriers to their academic success, and possess a positive attitude and passion for helping others. In addition, be able to demonstrate a mastery of the holistic elements of student success, such as time management, prioritizing, effective study strategies, note taking, goal setting, test-taking, motivation, managing test anxiety, and using campus resources.
