Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC), part of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (DPH), is seeking a dynamic and experienced Pediatrician. Please note: Standard hours are M-F, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. with participation in physician on-call rotation. Schedule may be established with weekend hours, every other week and Monday or Friday off for other weeks.

Duties and Responsibilities (these duties are a general summary and not all inclusive):

  • Serve as primary care physician for patient units, providing medical case management, direct evidence-based care, and basic procedures as needed.

  • Supervise and review performance of assigned Nurse Practitioners (NPs) in accordance with hospital policies.

  • Collaborate with medical professionals through consultations, staff meetings, and instruction to ensure proper treatment and care.

  • Engage in grand rounds, in-service training, and stay updated on pediatric clinical practice and guidelines.

  • Lead multidisciplinary team meetings to make final decisions on patient treatment and review care progress.

  • Facilitate ad hoc family and care management meetings to address patient needs.

  • Attend and contribute to pediatric team and committee meetings, potentially serving as chair or representative.

  • Contribute to the development and revision of pediatric policies and procedures, including clinical protocols for NPs.

  • Complete all clinical care with timely documentation and billing compliance, participating in coding reviews, and training.

  • Participate in departmental performance evaluations and quality improvement projects as required, including on-call duties in rotation with other pediatricians.

Required Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of diagnostic and treatment methods and techniques used in the field of pediatrics, including appropriate medical and surgical sub-specialties.

  • Experience in the care and treatment of children and adolescents with physical and cognitive disabilities.

  • Ability to diagnose and treat acute and chronic physical diseases and injuries in children and adolescents.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification or eligibility for certification in Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics.

  • Completion of at least three years of residency training in Pediatrics at a program accredited by the U.S. ACGME.

  • Experience with Meditech and/or Cerner electronic health record systems.

  • Familiarity with and competency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children (PRHC) located in Canton, MA is a Joint Commission Accredited, 90 bed pediatric hospital predominately serving children and young adults (ages 7-22) operated by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. The mission of PRHC is to provide medical, rehabilitative, educational, recreational, habilitative, transitional, and complementary alternative medical services to children and young adults with multiple disabilities, assisting them to achieve their optimal level of independence in all aspects of life. PRHC offers coordinated medical care and therapies in a hospital-based environment, as well as, K-12 schooling, located on the grounds. Educational Services are provided by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. In addition, PRHC offers a wide variety of recreational opportunities such as swimming, horseback riding, adaptive sports, and many opportunities for socialization for disabled children and young adults.
