Job Description

We are seeking full time urgent care physicians who are UC fellowship trained or have at least 2 years post residency clinical experience in urgent care community or hospital settings. Join our growing Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University.

The Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Emory University is seeking faculty for our expanding team to continue delivering clinical excellence in emergency care and further advance our academic missions of teaching, scholarship, and advocacy.

We are seeking BE/BC Pediatric Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Urgent Care Physicians to enhance our current team.

Our division currently employs over 45 academic pediatric emergency physicians, 16 urgent care pediatricians and 15 APPs. We run highly competitive fellowship training programs in pediatric emergency medicine (10 fellows), ED ultrasound (1/year) and urgent care (1/year). We care for a diverse patient population and are comprised of diverse and inclusive faculty and staff.

We are a collaborative practice model with pediatric emergency medicine and urgent care physicians, APPs and the entire spectrum of trainees. Attending physicians have academic appointments with Emory School of Medicine. Academic rank is commensurate with level of experience.

Our division staffs 2 hospitals, Hughes Spalding and Egleston, pediatric hospitals of the Children's Healthcare of Atlanta and Grady Healthcare Systems. Egleston is the only Level 1 ACS verified pediatric trauma center in the state of Georgia and Hughes Spalding is the regional pediatric safety net hospital. Both serve an extremely diverse patient population with over 120,000 pediatric emergency department annual patient encounters.

We run a robust research program serving as a site for the PECARN network. Academic areas of interest by some of our faculty include: global health, injury prevention, quality improvement, pediatric ultrasound, sickle cell care and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI). We also have major collaborations and opportunities with Georgia Tech, Morehouse School of Medicine, CDC, and the Marcus Autism Center.

Emory University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics, the primary academic partner of Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, is the largest recipient of federal research dollars from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in 2022 for pediatrics departments, according to rankings from the Blue Ridge Institute for Medical Research. The new figures show the pediatrics department ranking No. 1 again, for the second time in three years. Since 2016, the program has maintained a top five ranking, up from No. 49 in 2004.

As Atlanta is expanding, we will soon be moving into our new state of the art Arthur M. Blank Children's Hospital to serve the highest acuity of ill and injured children throughout the state and beyond.

It is 19 stories tall and holds 446 beds with a south tower of outpatient clinics. It will be surrounded by 20 acres of greenspace and a park-like setting.
