Kentucky Childrens Hospital has an immediate, full-time opening for an experienced pediatric cardiac sonographer. Fetal echocardiography experience is preferred.

Kentucky Childrens Hospital at the University of Kentucky is a 143 bed facility with a 12 bed pediatric intensive care unit, 12 bed progressive care unit, and over 60 bed neonatal intensive care unit.

Our pediatric echocardiography lab is accredited by the IAC in pediatric transthoracic, transesophageal and fetal echocardiography.

The University of Kentucky has recently partnered with Cincinnati Childrens Hospital in a Joint Pediatric Heart Care Program designed to be one program, two sites with plans for significant growth and collaboration. In addition to providing exceptional heart care (including open heart surgery), collaborative research and educational opportunities are also anticipated.

The qualified candidate will join our energized, dynamic team performing high-quality, diagnostic echocardiograms in a wide variety of settings to include inpatient, outpatient and off-site clinics. 24-hour call rotations and some travel will be required.

This position supports the developmental needs, emotional and play needs of infants, children youth and families. IEBC (internal employee being considered). Skills / Knowledge / Abilities Ability and willingness to interact positively with patients and family members; including working with patients with acute, chronic and complex disease process; Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently; Ability to function effectively under stress of conflicting demands and during tense and emotional situations; Must be able to set priorities and possess good organization abilities; Interpersonal skills necessary in order to effectively communicate, both verbally and written, with patients, families, medical staff, community groups, and donors. Does this position have supervisory responsibilities? No Preferred Education/Experience Two to four college courses in child development, family process or related field; two years of experience working with children and or families; experience working with children and families in stressful situations/healthcare setting highly preferred.
