The Department of Pediatrics, Division of General Pediatrics-Pediatric Hospital Medicine, University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Tampa is seeking a per diem, Pediatric hospital physician who is flexible working various shifts per month as needed. The position is primarily clinical with involvement in the residency teaching program.

Duties include in house patient care based at St. Joseph Children's Hospital in Tampa, FL. St. Joseph's Children's Hospital is a tertiary care, 120 bed (including PICU & PCIU) hospital located in the heart of in Tampa.

The hospitalist program is staffed by approximately 5 FTE daily and cares for routine and medically complex children. A Florida medical license will be required prior to assuming the position.

This appointment will be compensated through the Academic Support Fund. The position will not include University benefits (i.e. annual and sick leave, health insurance, retirement, etc.). The candidate will be appointed to the Collaborative Non-Tenure Earning Faculty, this position is considered temporary and at-will. Either party may terminate the relationship at any time for any reason.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• This position includes the management of pediatric patients at St. Joseph's Children's Hospital.

• Responsible for providing direct medical care to patients in a hospital or medical clinic. Typical duties include the diagnosis, treatment, operation, or prescription for any human disease, pain, injury, deformity, or other physical or mental condition.

• Other duties as assigned

• Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities.
  
  Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department/unit on university and/or Statewide committees.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

MINIMUM:

• This position requires licensure to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in accordance with Chapters 458 or 459, Florida Statutes, plus three years of appropriate experience.

• Completion of a residency program may substitute for the required experience.

PREFERRED:

• Board certification in hospital medicine is preferred, but not required.
