Job Summary - The Pediatric Cardiac Ultrasound Sonographer reports to the Echocardiography Lab Supervisor. Under indirect supervision, the Pediatric Cardiac Sonographer II provides high quality echocardiograms and preliminary reports for interpretation and diagnosis by a Pediatric Cardiologist in a professional manner that is consistent with hospital and departmental policies and procedures. This role organizes and prioritizes patient exams, and contributes to unit teamwork.

Minimum Training and Education

Associate of Arts/Science or Bachelors degree or graduation from a Cardiovascular/Ultrasound program or equivalent experience and certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS, PE), or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification in Pediatrics by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required; Fetal Echocardiography FE) preferred. Two years minimum pediatric echocardiography work experience in performing M-Mode, 2-D, 3-D, Doppler and color Doppler, required.

Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, hemodynamics and complex congenital heart disease, pre and post-operatively, required. Echocardiography experience in the setting of the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cath Lab preferred.

Certification by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as a RDCS (PE) (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification in Pediatrics by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

For more than 40 years, Trident Medical Center has proudly served patients and families in Berkeley, Charleston and Dorchester Counties. * The Cardiac Catheterization Cath Lab Technician is responsible for overall care and evaluation of patients having catheterization or other heart related procedures performed in the Catheterization Lab. These duties include: circulating, physiologically monitoring patients during cath lab procedures, and performing sterile scrub procedures for both diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, vascular procedures, and other cardiac procedures. * This position reports directly to the manager of Cardiovascular Services. * Job may include direct supervision of students at the discretion of the area supervisor. * Employee must have the same licensure or have completed the same training to satisfy the requirements of the discipline of the student. * Direct supervision means the primary caregiver is readily available to the student throughout the Transfers/New Hires have six (6) months from employment to obtain ACLS and RCIS certifications B.
