The Pediatric Audiologist provides audiology patient examination, evaluation, intervention, documentation, parent/caregiver education, communication and coordination of care with medical/clinical staff and outside agencies as appropriate within the guidelines designated by the department and the Delaware Valley policies and procedures.

Essential Duties

  • Assesses existing activities and develops new activities that promote general knowledge and professionalism within the department; participates in peer review process.

  • Attends in-services/continuing education, provides updates in the form of in-services to associates.

  • Participates in program Continuous Improvement projects.

  • Contributes to discipline and program committees to enhance patient care; assists in assessing current procedures and assists in developing methods of improvement related to patient care.

  • Program Development: Stays current on technological aspects of position and develops ties with professional organizations.

  • Participates in activities to increase program use, awareness and marketing

Qualifications

  • Doctor of Audiology (AuD) degree is the entry-level degree to obtain a new license to practice Audiology.

  • AuD preferred. Individuals with a Master's Degree will be considered if existing DE license is held (must be eligible for DE Audiology License)

  • Member of professional specialty organizations (ASHA, AAA, etc.) preferred.

  • Clinical affiliation and/or work experience in pediatrics is preferred. Experience with physically and/or mentally challenged populations preferred

  • Must hold a primary license (DE, PA, or NJ) A second license will be required for all clinical positions (Must submit license or proof of application submission within 2 weeks of job acceptance, but this second license is not required to be active at the start of employment)

  • All clinical staff will maintain dual licensure (DE, PA, or NJ)

  • BLS certification Basic Life Support (within 6 months of date of hire) and must be maintained for

duration of employment

Nemours is seeking a Registered Nurse- PICU to join our team in Wilmington, DE. This position is 72 or 60 hours every two weeks, 12 hour shifts, with weekend and holiday rotation. DESCRIPTION The Pediatric Intensive Care Unit of the A.I. duPont Hospital for Children is a 22-bed unit in a Level 1 Trauma Center. . Patients requiring care and surveillance in the PICU will have conditions and diagnoses which may include, but are not limited to, those producing: acute and reversible loss of consciousness, respiratory failure, compromised air exchange, cardiovascular dysfunction, hepatic failure, hemodynamic instability, renal dysfunction, central nervous system injury or dysfunction, acute trauma and organ failure requiring transplantation. Treatments or interventions performed in the PICU include measures utilizing advanced life support technology. These include, but are not limited to cardiopulmonary resuscitation, tracheal intubation, ECMO, pharmacologic support of circulation, mechanical ventilation, point of care monitoring, CRRT, thoracentesis, and hemodynamic, intracranial pressure, intravascular monitoring. Each patient room has electrocardiographic, pulse oximetry, respiratory, hemodynamic and intracranial pressure monitoring capability, as well as central EKG and respiratory monitoring. Portable monitoring during patient transport is provided. Special equipment includes; radiant warmer beds, heating/cooling blanket systems, Mapleson manual ventilation system, end tidal CO2 monitors, ventilators, hemodynamic monitoring systems, intracranial pressure monitoring system, ventriculostomy systems, infusion pumps, blood warmer, continuous renal replacement systems, and peripheral nerve stimulators. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing; BSN preferred Must be an experienced pediatric intensive care nurse of at least 2 years. . Have a current registration or be for eligible Delaware State Board of Nursing Licensure. Must be CPR certified by the American Heart Association. PALS preferred.
