Job Opening: PE Coach / Athletic Director
Location: Sherman Oaks, CA 91403
Type: Exempt, Full Time
Overview: Provide quality physical education instruction to students at various grade levels, manage and oversee middle school athletic teams, and handle after-school and weekend gym rentals. Responsible for supervising students during PE classes and athletic activities. Also responsible for overseeing assistant coaches, trainers, and other athletic staff.
Responsibilities:
Part 1: Teach PE classes throughout a portion of the school day
- Develop and implement lesson plans in accordance with school guidelines and state standards for physical education.
- Assess and grade student performance in PE classes.
- Implement strategies to accommodate various fitness and ability levels. ● Provide recess and physical activity supervision.
- Document progress / parent communication (progress reports, report card and PTC).
Part 2: Oversee the school athletic teams
- Coordinate athletic schedules, tryouts, clinics, transportation, and all related logistics for school sports teams.
- Ensure compliance with all legal paperwork and safety regulations.
- Foster communication and collaboration with other schools and athletic organizations. ● Enhance school spirit for sports teams through assemblies, announcements, and special events.
- Hire, and evaluate coaching staff for various sports teams, ensuring adherence to school policies and coaching standards.
Part 3: In charge of after-school and weekend gym rental
- Manage gym rental schedules and coordinate with outside organizations and community groups.
- Ensure proper maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of gym facilities. ● Oversee legal agreements and rental paperwork.
- Coordinate with school security and maintenance staff as needed.
Extra Curricular Responsibilities: Participate in extracurricular events as assigned and designated by the Head of School and/or the Principal. These events may include:
- Athletic events, on and off campus;
- Staff Meetings;
- Open House;
- School and Community Fitness Programs;
- Holiday and Special Sports Workshops;
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education or related field.
- Coaching or athletic administrative certification preferred.
- 3-5 years Physical Education Teaching or Coaching Experience.
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, as required for athletic events and gym rentals.
Compensation: $65,000 - $90,000 (based on experience as well as total obligations and duties), plus benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability, in addition to 403b plus employer match.
