Police Recruit
A police recruit is a temporary status for new employees while they complete the following:
Satisfactorily attend and complete the Basic Course in Applied Police Science (BCAPS, also known as Basic Police Academy)
Satisfactorily acquire a T.C.O.L.E Basic Peace Officer Certification
Satisfactorily complete Field Training and Probationary Period

Candidate Engagement Plan
October 4-December 20: Accepting applications
During our recruiting period, we will conduct our Application Material Review weekly. Qualified candidates will be invited to schedule a Physical Fitness Test and complete a Personal History Statement (PHS) to be brought with them to their test. Following testing, candidates will complete a Written Examination.
Candidates who pass their Physical Fitness Test and Written Examination will undergo an Internal Background Investigation.
January 10: Last day to complete a Physical Fitness Test/Written Examination
January 13-17: Candidates invited to move forward in the next step of our hiring process will be invited to complete a DISC Assessment and Participate in an Oral Panel Interview
January 27-31: Oral Panel Interviews
February 3: Candidates are notified of their status in our hiring process
February 3-23: Candidates extended a contingent offer of employment will complete pre-employment requirements
March 3: First Day as a City of Coppell Employee

Pay Structure
This opportunity is non-exempt and budgeted on a Step Plan. Pay for this opportunity will depend on qualifications.
Police Recruit (PD1, 1)
Starting Annualized Salary:$38.13 ($79,310)
Police Officer (PD2, 1-7)
Starting Annualized Salary- Step 1: $39.66 ($82,500)
The starting salary of certified officers is based on the previous experience level of the applicant as a full-time police officer.

Candidates must be 21 years of age by T.C.O.L.E Graduation, or older
Valid State of Texas Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one, with a good driving record
Ability to satisfactorily complete our hiring process:

Physical Fitness Test (Concept 2 Rower)
Written Examination
Internal Background Investigation
Online DISC Assessment
Oral Panel Interview
Ability to satisfactorily complete all pre-employment requirements post contingent offer:

Polygraph, Psychological (L3), and Drug/Medical Evaluation (L2)
