Responsible for providing front line support to end users for all desktop computer hardware, phones, software, and peripheral devices. Works in conjunction with other department members to provide additional support of issues.

Escalate in a timely manner issues related with network connectivity, shared file resources, software, applications and email. Respond to work order requests by diagnosing and repairing network and computer hardware.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1.Provide support by analyzing computers, peripherals, operating systems, and application software to identify breakdowns and provide resolutions to reported issues. Install and maintain computer hardware, software, and peripherals.

2.Perform all day to day computer operations and procedures including user account administration, voice mail account administration, and other related tasks needed to ensure reliable and efficient operation of all computer systems.

3.Participate in planning and maintaining computer security through account management and accessibility requirements.

4.Maintain and audit computer hardware inventory as well as other peripheral devices.

5.Establish and maintain training materials needed to properly support new hardware and software utilized by the customer.

6.Install and upgrade computers and peripherals as directed.

7.Relocate computer hardware, peripherals, and equipment as needed.

8.Install and configure software as needed.

9.Assist with the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of data communications and equipment.



  1. Diagnose and repair equipment including printers, terminals, and personal computers.

  2. Service equipment according to established preventive maintenance schedule.

  3. Maintain accurate, updated records of preventive maintenance.

  4. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and service.

  5. Provide unparalleled customer and employee responsiveness.

  6. Provides rotational on-call duties.

  7. Perform other duties as assigned.


CUSTOMER INTERACTION/PROBLEM-SOLVING:

A high level of customer service is paramount in the support of internal and external customers. All issues are addressed in a timely and efficient manner using standard troubleshooting techniques, with a focus on providing the best experience for the customer.

All reported issues are properly documented and updated using a central tracking system. Timely and effective communication to business owners on status of special projects is key to ensuring all parties are informed and aware and is a primary function of this job.

COMPLEXITY:

Work mostly includes various duties and special projects that require a high degree of flexibility

and attention to detail. Project planning, requirements gathering and training documentation is key to the day to day function of the position.

Decisions on what needs to be done frequently require analysis of the subject matter for each assignment, and may requires several possible options. Detailed research and troubleshooting techniques must be used to produce the best possible outcome and results. Employee will need to apply previous experience and knowledge to provide support and guidance to non-technical personnel.

NATURE AND EXTENT OF SUPERVISION PROVIDED TO THE POSITION:

Overall, objectives and resource allocations are determined by the Supervisor, providing broad administrative direction, with assignments given in terms of broadly defined missions or functions. Employee plans, designs and carries out programs, projects, studies, or other work independently. Results are considered technically sound by virtue of the employee's expertise, and are generally accepted with review only for conformity to objectives, contribution to program goals, or advancement of technological understanding.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, each essential duty (as identified above) must be performed satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:

1.Ability to self-train, learn quickly, and retain technical knowledge.

2.Advanced knowledge of Intel-Based Computers.

3.Understanding of Microsoft 2008/2012/2016 Server.

4.Basic proficiency with Unix Operating System.

5.Knowledge of how to use and install Windows operating systems.

6.Understanding of Ethernet networking using TCP/IP protocol.

7.Good writing skills.

8.Ability to maintain confidentiality.

EDUCATION:

Two-year Associates Degree (AA) with emphasis on Computer Science or Data Processing Technologies (May substitute three years of helpdesk or second-level support experience).

EXPERIENCE:

Three or more years of work related experience performing tasks as specified above under Essential Duties and Responsibilities' section including Active Directory, VoIP, VPN, Computer Networking

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, ETC.

CompTIA A+ or CompTIA Network+ is preferred, and Current California Driver's License.
