Position Summary & Responsibilities
Position Summary:
This position serves as the Career Navigator and supports programming and services at Lansing Work Release Facility.

This position serves as the Career Navigator and supports programming and services at Lansing Work Release Facility.
This position provides career readiness groups and career services for residents housed at Lansing Work Release Facility. This includes being responsible for the career centers; development employment plans with residents; making contact with employers and developing employment opportunities; running career readiness groups including Advanced Practice, including doing mock interviews, resumes, applications, interviews skills, job search skills, barriers/solutions, etc. This position partners with the local workforce center to ensure residents access all available resources at the center. This position also develops career mentors and matches them to residents to support employment success.
Works with parole Career Navigators, workforce center/services staff, and employers, to develop employment opportunities for work release residents and returning citizens in the Kansas City area. The focus is on high demand high wage jobs, but also employment opportunities that helps build an employment history to support ongoing improvement in employment opportunities. This means providing information to potential employers; working closely with community-based resources; and problem-solving issues that arise with employers. This also includes ongoing work with residents and returning citizens to ensure they are career ready as to both soft and hard skills, and the tools needed for seeking and sustaining livable wage employment.
Supports programming at LWRF in all areas, including administrative support of programming, and oversight of CBI programs delivered on site. This includes helping develop groups; ensuring program needs are addressed that support sustained livable wage employment; and coordinating with unit team and program staff to ensure support is provided.
This position tracks and reports data, entering it into KDOC systems and otherwise, as required and directed.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
Six months of experience in planning, implementing and monitoring activities relevant to the agency's programs.
Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree with major coursework in criminal justice, the social sciences, or the behavioral sciences, and three years of experience working with offenders in corrections. Or 60 semester hours of college credit, with twelve hours in corrections or a related field, and five years of experience working with offenders in corrections.
Two years experience in the workforce industry, helping individuals high risk regarding employment to achieve sustained employment, and/or working with the job placement arm of a college.
Two years experience working with multi-discipline groups.
Two years experience in offender CBT group work.
Effective in working with a team and communicating.
Post-Offer, Pre-employment Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Must pass a criminal history records check.
