As the PRN PBX Operator, you will be responsible for answering and routing correctly all calls in a prompt, courteous, and pleasant manner and provide monitoring of all essential alarm systems to start responses to alarm activator. Other job functions include:
Ability to operate console unit promptly and efficiently.
Maintain courtesy when responding to incoming and outgoing callers.
Accurately identify and take appropriate action for the following situations when they occur: Code Red, Code Blue, Code Yellow, and bomb threats.
Report all telephone repair needs to the PBX Coordinator.
Review, comprehend and adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures which pertain to work performance.
Properly use paging system and exercise discretion in keeping overhead paging to a minimum.
Monitor all alarm systems (fire, oxygen, burglar, vacuum, etc.) and take appropriate action in event of an alarm activation.
Maintain roster of patient room assignments.
Treat all information obtained as confidential and communicate the information only through the designated administrative channels.
Refer all patient information calls to appropriate designated person.
Maintain listing of department extensions and current listing of department heads.
Hours to be scheduled by Department Director to ensure appropriate coverage of department services. Must be able to work weekends as scheduled. Participates in on-call requirements as per department policy.
