As the PRN PBX Operator, you will be responsible for answering and routing correctly all calls in a prompt, courteous, and pleasant manner and provide monitoring of all essential alarm systems to start responses to alarm activator. Other job functions include:

  • Ability to operate console unit promptly and efficiently.

  • Maintain courtesy when responding to incoming and outgoing callers.

  • Accurately identify and take appropriate action for the following situations when they occur: Code Red, Code Blue, Code Yellow, and bomb threats.

  • Report all telephone repair needs to the PBX Coordinator.

  • Review, comprehend and adhere to hospital and department policies and procedures which pertain to work performance.

  • Properly use paging system and exercise discretion in keeping overhead paging to a minimum.

  • Monitor all alarm systems (fire, oxygen, burglar, vacuum, etc.) and take appropriate action in event of an alarm activation.

  • Maintain roster of patient room assignments.

  • Treat all information obtained as confidential and communicate the information only through the designated administrative channels.

  • Refer all patient information calls to appropriate designated person.

  • Maintain listing of department extensions and current listing of department heads.

EXPERIENCE:

  • One year of experience in PBX communications (required)

HOURS:

  • PRN

  • Hours to be scheduled by Department Director to ensure appropriate coverage of department services. Must be able to work weekends as scheduled. Participates in on-call requirements as per department policy.

Qualification Requirements:Experience: * 2 years switchboard experience. * Experienced operator with at least 5 years'experience preferred. * 3 plus years customerservice experience. * 3 plus years front desk, receptionist experience in ahealthcare setting highly desirable. * Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
