Operates the facility phone system to relay incoming, outgoing and interoffice calls. Responsible for efficiently answering, screening and routing incoming calls.

Assist the public in a professional manner
Responsible for overhead paging the codes and the procedure(s) to follow once code is called (notifying key individuals and documenting type of code on log sheet)
Maintain communication with Engineering when alarm(s) triggers or equipment malfunctions
Maintain communications with Security to promote a more secure facility
Maintain on-call schedules for use; Physician & Hospital Department specific
Maintain beeper list and beeps physician and/or personnel accordingly
Demonstrates knowledge of occurrence reporting system and utilizes system to report potential patient safety issues
Attends department meetings, education sessions and hospital specific training programs
Practices and adheres to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and Mission and Value statement of the Hospital
Supplies appropriate information to callers regarding patients within facility and HIPAA guidelines
Performs other duties as assigned
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
