Volt is immediately hiring for an Metallurgical Lab Tech in Gardena, CA.

Position Summary:

Working under minimal supervision, Metal Lab Tech performs all levels of metallurgical testing. The tech will also demonstrate an advanced ability to interpret industry specifications, such as raw material certifications, heat treat, and coating specifications. Familiar with hydrogen and grain size testing. 1-5 years of experience.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

• Work safely under functional safety guidelines such as PPE and equipment interaction.

• Perform laboratory tests: tensile, shear and fatigue stress durability, stress rupture, torque, hardness, hydrogen determination, static alignment, and ductility hardness testing.

• Macro and micro metallurgical preparation and examination.

• Prepare samples and associated data cards for orders to be tested.

Required Skills:

• The ability to read and write English.

• An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals.

• Proficient in the safe operation of a variety of laboratory test equipment.

• Basic blueprint reading competencies.

• Good organization skills.

• The ability to understand standard procedures.

• The ability to interpret technical test requirements from customer blueprints and procurement specifications.

• The ability to lift up to 35 lbs.

Required Experience:

• 1-5 years of experience.

Level of Education:

• GED or High School diploma preferred but not required.

This is a full-time opportunity Monday - Friday 2nd shift 2pm-10:30pm

The ideal candidate will have the following skills:

• The ability to read and write English

• An introductory competence in shop math such as working with fractions and decimals

• A basic knowledge of inspection tools and their proper use

• A basic knowledge of machine tools

• The ability to interpret written instruction on shop travelers

• Capable of setting up and running parts as required

• 1-3 years of experience

Pay Rate: $23.25 Hourly.

• Pay range offered to a successful candidate will be based on several factors, including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, certifications, etc.
