Position Overview
Responsible for all payroll tax activities and the most complex payroll transactions, including ensuring compliance and timely filing with local, state, provinces, and federal regulations. Additional responsibility also includes maintaining payroll-related accounts and provides accounting assistance in reconciliation and month-end reporting to the general ledger.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to:
Ensure accurate W2/T4 reporting of all year-end items such as non-cash compensation, moving and relocation
Reconcile 941s to general ledger and W-2s/ T4s
Prepare Tax filing adjustments to employees when necessary (W-2/T4, W-2C/T4C)
Balance and reconcile quarterly payroll taxes
Review correspondence between Equifax, ADP, and taxing authorities for Payroll tax concerns
Responsible for review and tracking of unemployment claims and Garnishment
Respond to any inquires related to general ledger activity.
Responsible for Payroll general ledger accounts for corrections and reclassification
Responsible for the auditing and reconciling of the Payroll Bank Account
Maintain monthly account analysis for assigned payroll balance sheet accounts and ensure the financial integrity and accountability for all payroll transactions
Ensure all equity transactions are taxed correctly and update payroll with correct wages and taxes
Applying knowledge of multi-state payroll tax rules to ensure accurate tax set-up for employees
Regularly review and maintain configuration of earnings and deduction to be compliant
Research laws and regulations regarding payroll taxes and payroll withholding procedures, and in preparing projections, and special reports for management
Assist PR Tax and Reporting Manager with project and audits
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Position requires experience in Payroll Tax and Accounting practices and procedures, and knowledge of US and Canada Payroll Processing
Proficiency with multiple state payroll taxes
Proficient in account reconciliations and journal entries
Direct experience operating ADP Enterprise EV6/ADP WFN, SAP experience is a plus
Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office/Suite
Must be detail oriented, accurate, and able to provide solid audit trails from reports to transaction data
Must be reliable, able to prioritize, and multitask to meet critical deadlines and work well under pressure
Must possess excellent customer service, organization, and follow-up skills
Ability to preserve confidentiality, strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
BS Degree in Accounting and or Tax
Experience in ADP payroll (Enterprise) preferred
Excellent report writing skills
CPP Certification a plus
