Job Description

The Payroll Tax Associate Manager, State and Local Payroll Tax has a full range of responsibilities for employment tax compliance related to state and local income tax withholding, state disability insurance, regulatory, tax law research interpretation and application, and payroll tax audits for all of the client's businesses that provide services for lodging and corporate entities. Specifically, the Payroll Tax Associate Manager is responsible for the following:

  • Providing accurate and timely state and local income tax returns

  • Reviewing the accuracy and timeliness of tax returns and deposits as submitted in the review process

  • Ensuring compliance with internal control responsibilities of all tax review and table maintenance processes under their responsibility

  • Overseeing policies and procedures for the timely withholding of all state and local taxes, timely deposit of all state and local liabilities, and proper implementation of tax related changes

  • Constantly working with payroll software systems with emphasis on periodic maintenance, updating tax rates, and generating the appropriate employee or employer data

  • Assisting clients in areas relating to payroll tax compliance, audit, laws and regulations

  • Researching tax laws, tax regulations and court cases relevant to income taxation and disability Identifying clients potential liabilities and initiating exposure analysis Identifying opportunities to streamline and improve process execution

  • Coordinating internally and with clients various departments to ensure smooth work flow

Qualifications * BS in Accounting required, Masters in Taxation or LLM is a plus * CPA required * Minimum of five (5) years of experience in public accounting or corporate/public blend * Consolidated C-Corp, ASC 740, Partnership, S-Corp, Individual and/or multi-state experience * Successful engagement and client management skills * Working with the tax team to identify and resolve client issues.
