The Payroll Tax Analyst is responsible for delivering optimal client experience, operational effectiveness, and efficiency through function activities necessary to control and ensure a timely and accurate payroll tax filings and payments. The Payroll Tax Analyst adheres to SOPs, participates in the development of strategies and objectives; aids in identification and implementation of process improvements and efficiencies.

  • Ensures all policies, procedures, and legal requirements are being followed and enforced. Helps create and execute action plans to address performance deficiencies. Integrates system enhancements and updated policies and procedures and ensures appropriate understanding and execution

  • Resolve issues and complaints from internal and external customers to ensure the highest level of customer service

  • Responsible for recommending ways to continually improve own workflow, the department workflow, and delivery of solutions for the customers of the functional area. Responsible for bringing issues to management and presenting options for solutions.

  • Make sound decisions which have the potential to impact multiple jobs and employees within the department or closely linked departments. Many recommendations and projects will have client, vendor, and broader organizational impact

Sharing Expertise

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of tax filings and payments for U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico Federal withholdings (W-2, T-4, and RL-1), state withholdings and unemployment taxes.

  • Correct reconciliation errors where needed to prepare/file amended returns as necessary

  • Research and respond to Federal, State and Local tax agency tax notices

Gaining Exposure

  • Builds and maintains collaborative working relationships with internal and external customers, as well as payroll process stakeholders, partners and suppliers

  • Resolve issues and complaints from internal and external customers to ensure the highest level of customer service

Your Typical Day

  • Works on special projects as required, including acquisitions, mergers and divestments, internal and external audits, W2 and W2c balancing, and T-4s

  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of tax filings and payments for U.S. Canada and Puerto Rico Federal withholdings (W-2, T-4, and RL-1), state withholdings and unemployment taxes.

  • Correct reconciliation errors where needed to prepare/file amended returns as necessary

  • Research and respond to Federal, State and Local tax agency tax notices

  • Assist with reporting requirements for the Dept. of Labor Reporting, Multiple Worksite Reporting, and Bureau of Labor Statistics

Required

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience

  • Minimum of five to seven years' experience in payroll tax

Nice to Have

  • Progressively responsible payroll tax experience in a complex, multi-line multi-state business environment

VIEW JOBS 1/19/2021 12:00:00 AM 2021-04-19T00:00 As a member of the Shared Services team, the Sr. Tax Accountant will work directly with the client implementation, billing and other shared services groups to ensure that sales tax determinations are evaluated using a defined sales tax determination matrix and core knowledge of sales tax provisions for the staffing industry. The analyst in this role will be responsible for tax decisions as well as developing a tax decision documentation strategy for audit purposes. The analyst in this role will partner with the corporate tax team to support tax audits and other state and local tax inquiries. Additionally, and leveraging technical skills and sound business judgment, the analyst in this role will be responsible to perform internal & external reporting, support ad hoc projects and provide excellent customer service as described below. * Partner with client implementation, billing and our sales team to make transactional sales tax decisions * Develop and implement a tax decision documentation process to ensure that back-up of our tax decisions is easily available in the event of an audit * Take charge of any tax decision discrepancies and be the face of any required tax discussions with our clients as needed * Special projects, research etc as required * Internal and/ or external reporting as required * Minimum two (2) years of sales tax or other finance or tax experience in a medium to large sized organization. * Ideal candidate will have experience in the staffing industry and be familiar with invoicing and or transactional finance processes. * BS / BA in business related discipline (Accounting or Finance strongly preferred). * Extremely strong service values for both internal and external customers * Experience with large ERP software package (PeopleSoft strongly preferred) * Proven ability to lead a process and drive process improvements * Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel; user level skills with MS PowerPoint * Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience communicating across all levels within an organization * Demonstrated problem solver who can successfully operate in a team environment ManpowerGroup is an EOE/AA/Vets/Disabled Employer Manpower Group Milwaukee WI
