The Payroll Tax Analyst will be responsible for successful completion of the bi-weekly and off cycle payroll processes including validating the accuracy of earnings, deductions, tax withholdings and garnishments for large volume payrolls and multiple legal entities. The Payroll Tax Analyst would also support quarterly and annual payroll related filings. This role monitors federal, state and local regulations related to payroll and employment tax laws to ensure compliance. The Payroll Tax Analyst will have a strong payroll background, understand payroll configurations, payroll accounting and payroll systems.
Duties and responsibilities
Reconcile payroll tax balances generated from Ultipro payroll system on a weekly and biweekly basis to system generated reports and GL accounts; audit and validate transactions and balances.
Assist with preparation of Tax Filings and Amendments including overseeing W-2 and W2C preparation, validation, and distribution; including preparation of company communications and communications with individual associates.
Responsible for ensuring timely processing and remittance of Federal, State and Local Income Taxes and Unemployment Taxes. Ensure the accuracy of all Tax Withholding requirements and compliance with all Tax regulations and legislation.
Responsible for ensuring resolution of associates Payroll Tax questions in a timely manner.
Process various required regulatory reports and provide reports to internal and external stakeholders as required.
Analyzes and resolve discrepancies between Payroll Tax Withholdings and amounts funded and data transmitted to Payroll Tax Vendor and Tax Agencies.
Analyze Ultimate Softwares Tax Update Bulletins and identify tax changes applicable to the Company.
Define and execute testing plans to ensure updates are implemented timely and correctly, and draft communications to the audiences affected by the Tax changes.
Manage, resolve and document Federal, State, and Local Agency Payroll Tax Notices.
Responsible for the Set-up and maintenance of Withholding and UI Tax Accounts with Agencies.
Responsible for timely Tax Payment processing.
Manage relationship with Ultimate Software, ADP, and Equifax payroll tax vendors.
Collaborates and has detailed involvement with IT, HR and Payroll Department for all systems upgrades.
Solid understanding of Labor Laws as well as Tax Laws.
Use of knowledge and skills to make appropriate recommendations for efficiencies and to enhance productivity.
Assist the Sr. Manager, Payroll and Team with special projects as needed.
5+ years of professional experience handling multi-state payroll taxes is required.
Experience working with large volume payrolls and multiple legal entities.
Advanced Excel skills to include pivot tables, V-LookUps, and formulas are required.
W2 & W2c Auditing and Processing.
Quarterly and Annual Tax Filing experience.
Advanced analytical, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail required.
Above average interpersonal, organization, negotiation and communication skills.
Ability to process complex information and identify solutions that meet both internal and business partner requirements and deadlines.
Significant knowledge of payroll tax regulations and laws.
Must have UltiPro software experience.
Experience with outsourced Tax and Garnishment Providers.
