JOB SUMMARY

This position is responsible for all payroll tax activities, including compliance with local, state, federal and global regulations and filing of local, state, and federal and global payroll tax returns. Directly responsible for working with a third party to ensure accurately and timely remittance of all taxes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Sets up new government, unemployment and locality as required for third party administrator and human resources information systems (HRIS) system.

Processes invoices to Treasury/Accounting impound for daily tax payments.

Ensures commission taxes withheld are correct.

Ensures timely and accurate updates to employees tax panels.

Reviews and processes government tax returns and employee data.

Provides annual salary, bonus and commission for year-to-date wages and taxes related to relocation charge/reimbursement.

Ensures compliance with workers' compensation and government disability required withholding.

Tests system tax updates for accuracy.

Researches and reviews wage base discrepancies for annual reporting.

Reviews third party sick pay and ensure appropriate reporting.

Other duties may be assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

No formal supervisory responsibilities in this position. May provide informal assistance such as technical guidance and/or training to co-workers. May coordinate and assign tasks to co-workers within a work unit and/or project.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) from 4-year college or university in Accounting or related field with a minimum of three years payroll tax experience, including federal and multi state.

Finance/Accounting knowledge or experience required.

CERTIFICATES and/or LICENSES

Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and analytical skills.

Ability to provide efficient, timely, reliable and courteous service to customers.

Ability to effectively present information.

FINANCIAL KNOWLEDGE

Knowledge of payroll processes including pay calculations, tax geographical location (state, territory, etc.) taxation rules, etc.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve problems involving complex options in variable situations.

Requires intermediate analytical skills.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

PeopleSoft system knowledge required.

Proficient in the use of Microsoft applications and other third party tax research tools.

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITY

Decisions made with understanding of procedures and company policies to achieve set results and deadlines. Responsible for setting own project deadlines. Errors in judgment may cause short-term impact to co-workers and supervisor.

Essilor of America and its subsidiary, Essilor Laboratories of America, Inc., employ more than 7,000 in the U.S. and own the largest and most comprehensive optical laboratory network in the U.S. JOB PURPOSE: Payroll Tax Analyst supervises payroll tax coordinator(s) and responsible for all functions relating to payroll tax reporting and filing tax returns utilizing ADP Payroll Tax Services for multiple-EIN's, operating in multi-states environment, onboard acquisitions and mergers to insure compliance with all federal, state, and local tax authorities. Prepare workers compensation renewal reports, and process monopolistic returns and remittances. ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and RESPOSIBILITIES: * Compliance with all federal, state, and local tax regulations * Ability to research, analyze and provide recommendations to tax related questions * Maintaining payroll tax controls, reports and files for each taxing authority by EIN * Analyze and reconcile payroll controls to quarterly, annual and W-2 filings * Create and process documentation for amendments * Preparing, remitting and filing returns not supported by ADP Payroll Tax Service * Document and verify tax rate changes are accurately and timely updated by ADP * Administer new account set up and closures as needed with tax authorities and ADP Tax Services * Timely investigate and resolve tax notices with federal, state, and local tax agencies * Acquisitions and Integrations tax workbook set up, audit, and process opening tax balances * Workers compensation reporting and audits * Expatriate compensation, allowances, and VISA status * Annual Nexus reporting * Support internal and external audits * Ad-hoc reporting using ADP Reporting QUALIFICATIONS: * Education – requires an undergraduate degree in business, finance, accounting, or American Payroll Association CPP certification * Experience – minimum of 3-5 years continuous full-time payroll tax experience working with multiple EIN's and multi-state payrolls. Functional knowledge of internal controls and compliance protocols * Specialized Knowledge – Payroll tax regulations on Federal, State, and local levels; Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point; ADP Vantage desired; ADP Reporting or other equivalent reporting tool * Other Qualifications – supervising one employee, able to work independently and as a team player; excellent written and verbal communication skills at varied levels; analytical, detailed and resourceful; ability to prioritize work in a fast pace and constantly changing environment; manage projects to communicate progress and meet deadlines; training, coaching, and mentoring; high level of integrity and ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information handled.
