BorgWarner is currently seeking for a "dynamic, results-driven" individual to join as an Payroll Tax Analyst at our World Headquarters in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This person would be responsible for all areas of the payroll tax function to ensure compliance with the IRS, and state tax regulations, as well as responding internally to the payroll related G/L and accounting items.
Responsible for periodic, quarterly and annual US payroll tax reconciliation for 16 FEINS in multiple states in the US.
Investigate, resolve and respond to tax authority notices and correspondence in a timely manner.
Process semi-monthly payroll for salaried, expats and inpats
Work directly with accounting, accounts payable and payroll in reconciliation process to balance Payroll totals, and tax filing totals.
Responsible for identifying, registering, and administering new payroll taxes as work locations are created.
Responsible for managing current tax accounts and making updates or closing accounts when locations are closed or moved.
Research, analyze, and evaluate tax changes for impact to company and employees. Maintain state unemployment rates and ensure rates are updated timely.
Monitor and inform team of policy and/or legal changes to as required to keep payroll organization in compliance with tax rules.
Remain current on new legislation and regulatory rulings impacting payroll in both US and keep leadership abreast of upcoming changes that impact company.
Work with Payroll Manager in development of audits/controls for proper tax set up and reviews
Review and analyze current payroll tax procedures and makes recommendations on process changes.
Validate and audit relocation data received from the third-party vendor for domestic and international population
Participate in system testing, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Collaborate with team to support year-end processing.
Assist with internal and external audits and reporting requests, including providing information, reports and documentation and data analysis as needed.
3+ years' experience with US payroll & payroll tax reconciliation
Experience with multiple FEIN's, Multiple States and Multiple localities
Strong understanding of payroll process flow and Federal, State and Local tax regulations
Exposure to relocation for both domestic & international and stock options
Strong working knowledge of payroll concepts, approved practices and procedures.
Demonstrated skills in researching issues, troubleshooting and problem resolution.
Ability to multi-task, as well as track and meet critical deadlines, and collaborate with team.
Very strong Excel skills, or ability to learn quickly. Must be able to handle projects as a team
Proven record dealing with confidential data using discretion.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
Certified Payroll Professional preferred
Experience working with ADP and Smart Compliance is required
