Primary Duties and Responsibilities

As the Payroll Supervisor, you will be responsible for leading payroll production processing, training payroll staff/Med Center departmental staff, and providing customer service to the Health System entities (UCLA Ronald Reagan; UCLA-Santa Monica Hospital; UCLA-Neuropsychiatric Hospital; & Tiverton House). You will:
Serve as a primary resource for UCLA Health System payroll policies with knowledge of UCLA collective bargaining agreements of represented employees, and policies affecting non-represented staff.
Coordinate processing tasks between payroll processors and Financial Systems staff to assure that all UCLA Med Center payroll deadlines are met.
Supervise payroll processors, independently train payroll staff on the systems, schedules their assignments, assess their abilities and work progress
Note: This position is a contract role up to 16 months that may convert to career.
Salary Range: $71,500-$154,900/annually

We're seeking a self-directed, detail-oriented team player with:
A Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience or training
3 or more years of payroll experience, a plus
Experience working with payroll in a hospital setting, highly desirable
Leadership background with the ability to mentor, coach, and oversee staff, highly desired
The ability to manage a complex set of tasks in a high-profile, academic health sciences setting
Excellent organizational, planning, and prioritizing abilities
Ability to explain technical policies/procedures to staff members
Strong communication, analytical, multitasking, and problem-solving skills
Knowledge of UC policies and procedures for research grant personnel budget categories
Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office and payroll, time, and attendance systems
