The role of the Payroll Staff Accountant is a position that will work closely with the Accounting Manager to prepare and process employee paychecks and assist other members of the finance team on the day-to-day operations of the Finance Department.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Compile payroll data from electronic timekeeping and various other software.
Review wages for accuracy, make corrections as necessary.
Prepare, review, distribute, and finalize bi-weekly payroll.
Reconcile payroll associated with holdings and taxes regularly; prepare timely wage reports for taxing entities.
Record payroll related transactions to general ledger.
Provide ad-hoc reporting on request.
Assist with, process, and verify coding of A/P transactions and process accordingly.
Assist with purchasing transactions as needed in conjunction with the accounts payable process.
Maintain accounting records and files in accordance with GAAP and organizational standards.
Assist with the development and implementation of accounting procedures and internal controls by constantly analyzing current procedures; recommends changes.
Answer payroll and general accounting questions by researching and interpreting data.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience.
3+ years' experience in accounting/finance field.
Experience in non-profit and/or grant accounting is a plus.
Proven time management skills ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects to established deadlines.
Detail-oriented and focused on efficient and effective processes/procedures.
Proficiency with MS Office, computer/laptop, tablet, and cell phone required.
Working knowledge HIPAA and other privacy law and regulations.
