We are seeking a Payroll Specialist/Accountant.

HOW YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE:

Responsible for the accurate preparation, documentation, distribution, and reconciliation payroll and the administration of the payroll system. Individual is point of contact with external payroll provider (currently Paylocity). Establishes and maintains trust and respects confidentiality. Works closely with teammates, including the HR Team(s) and Internal Audit, to ensure payroll issues are escalated and resolved promptly. Additional duties include month-end Payroll entries and certain General Ledger and Accounts Payable activities.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE:

1.Support Payroll Coordinators and prepare, review and process weekly payroll to include but not limited to approval of hourly timecards, create data for salary positions, entering payroll changes, employee expense reimbursements, employee deductions and garnishments into the payroll Smartsheet and/or Paylocity.

2.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of city, state, and federal legislation affecting payroll. Maintains earning/deduction/tax codes in Paylocity. Responsible for system setup, department changes, GL mapping, and tax set up in Paylocity.

3.Responsible for 401k reconciliation and submission after each payroll has processed.

4.Responsible for processing special payrolls requested, sending out for review, and submitting. Responsible for submitting manual HSA funding.

5.Responsible for report writing and regulatory reporting for items to include, but not limited, to census reporting, 401k compliance, workers compensation data, SOX compliance and annual W-2 process. .

6.Provide support and continuous improvement in training employees on Paylocity and work closely with Supervisors on time approval and problem resolution for payroll processing errors. Train/assist other payroll coordinators in Milwaukee and Madison Heights on all payroll processes and share best practices.

7.Assist, as required, during month-end close including accurately preparing and entering journal entries and account reconciliations to include but not limited to payroll entry, hourly and salary wage accrual, paid time off, Time For Results and holiday accruals, 401k, and credit card sales tax liability.

8.Assist employees with 401k questions, including loans, check balances, etc.

9.Participate when feasible with cross functional teams formed to create continuous improvement efforts in systems and procedures.

WHAT THIS ROLE NEEDS:

Education: Bachelors Degree in business administration, Accounting or Finance preferred; Five to seven years related experience and/or training.

Experience: Experience with Payroll, Accounts Payable and General Ledger accounting transactions required. Experience with Lean Accounting concepts and Paylocity payroll software a plus.

Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively and promptly at all levels of the organization, providing consultation and supporting department objectives and management decisions.

Computer Skills: Experience with Windows, Microsoft Excel, and Word. Familiarity with one or more accounting software systems and Paylocity a plus.
