Requisition Number:29806 Job Title:ADMINISTRATIVE SPECIALIST Working Title:Payroll Specialist Salary:$20.89 - $41.37 hourly Job Type:Career Department Name:3105G-HR & PAYROLL CENTER - NORTH Department Website URL:http://hrpcnorth.ucla.edu/ Job Summary Statement:Under general supervision of the Payroll Operations Manager, primary responsibilities are to provide a wide range of payroll services to the departments under the HR and Payroll Center, North (HRPCN) office. Provide support in the processing of biweekly and monthly payroll and assist clients in meeting submission deadlines.

Work in conjunction with departmental payroll representatives, the Central Resource Unit, and UCPath Center to resolve discrepancies. Deliver exemplary customer service while addressing all inquiries made to the HRPCN. Responsible for processing biweekly and monthly payroll transactions, retroactive salary adjustments, etc. as directed.

Incumbent also performs various personnel transactions in conjunction with policy and procedures, collective bargaining agreements, and directive from Campus Human Resources. Maintain accurate and current personnel information of all on-line personnel transactions using PeopleSoft HRMS. Independently set priorities and complete functions, using deadline schedules, manuals, and office procedures as guidelines.

This position also provides support to managers and supervisors with preparing edits in the Kronos database. Percentage of Time:100 Shift Start:8:00 am Shift End:5:00 pmQualifications for Position

Minimum of 2 years of experience working with online payroll processing systems.

Working knowledge of payroll and HR online applications.

Working knowledge of the computerized time and attendance systems.

Demonstrated ability to analyze policies and procedures and determine compliance of existing policies and procedures.

Must have strong detail orientation and communication/listening skills.

Ability to understand and interpret University policies, labor contracts and the application of these guidelines in the payroll process, where applicable.

Skills in basic arithmetic to add, subtract, multiply or divide figures to compute rates.

Knowledge of basic accounting principles, including skill in performing accounting tasks such as debiting, crediting, and reconciling expenditures.

Skill in working independently and following through on assignments with minimal direction and supervision, according to established deadlines, working effectively under continual interruptions and heavy workload.

Skill in speaking concisely and logically using grammatically correct language to convey information and explain policies and procedures.

About the Role The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the preparation and processing of the bi-weekly payroll, including auditing new hire information for accuracy. You will also process off-cycle payments as needed and analyze, research, and verify discrepancies.
