SUMMARY

Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll and compliance with regulations as applicable to payroll.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with processing payroll including base pay, overtime, incentive compensation, and bonuses (salaried, hourly, and union payrolls).

  • Ensure the timely processing of special pay regarding new hires, terminations, severance payments, and ACH transfers when applicable

  • Review of payroll taxes for employees.

  • Perform audits for each payroll processed and make necessary adjustments/corrections to assure accurate pay to all employees within assigned payrolls

  • Maintain and assess payroll controls.

  • Assist with resolving payroll issues by providing a high level of customer service to employees when questions arise.

  • Acquire and apply the necessary knowledge of an outside payroll service and/or the Human Resources system to process payroll and related reports accurately and timely.

  • Process timely and accurate garnishments, employment data, and unemployment data.

  • Perform administrative tasks as needed including mail processing, filing and storage of payroll records, and processing timesheets.

  • Additional duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

  • HS diploma required. A 4-year accounting or business degree is strongly preferred.

Work Experience:

  • 5 years automated payroll systems experience required.

Knowledge & Skills:

Required

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook with good written and verbal communication skills

  • Perform under pressure when confronted with an emergency, critical, or unusual situation

  • Ability to perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of different nature

  • Ability to present and write information in a clear and effective manner

  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Preferred:

  • Workday data entry and reporting experience strongly preferred.

  • Payroll experience with a medium to large multi-state employee base
