Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Payroll Specialist.
The Payroll Specialist reports to the Assistant Accounting Manager. The Payroll Specialist performs a variety of payroll administrative support functions in the processing of the Town's payroll. This position provides customer service to internal and external customers, and assists in the audit and processing of timecards and benefits related items for town employees.
Ideal candidates for this position will work well in a collaborative team environment, eager to quickly learn the Town's payroll processing procedures, as well as pursue opportunities for continuous improvement and innovation. Candidate must be a team player that is open to change and demonstrates a positive attitude. They will be forward thinking, possess a strong work ethic, and have great time management and organizational skills. Must be comfortable with assisting customers and able to articulate and apply policies and procedures.
You are someone who effectively exceeds customer needs by building productive relationships, and taking responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty. You actively participate as a member of a team to move the team toward the completion of goals and produce quality outcomes. You take great pride in proactively managing time and resources to ensure that work is completed efficiently while accomplishing objectives and achieving goals beyond what is required.

Associates degree in Payroll, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field;
5 years of experience processing full-cycle payroll (municipal experience preferred), working with automated timecard software, tax filing, auditing, and reconciling Federal and State taxes, daily payroll operations, and providing internal and external customer service;
Complete understanding of the full-cycle payroll process;
Knowledge of pension systems and associated reporting;
Familiar with Federal and State tax laws;
Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel, timekeeping and payroll software;
Excellent customer service skills;
Proven ability to work well under tight deadlines;
Possess a valid Arizona Driver's License.
