Our client is looking for a qualified Payroll Specialist who has experience in Canadian payroll processing. Responsibilities will include:

  • Canadian staff payroll including timesheets and payroll processing

  • Handle tax account registrations with state and local tax jurisdictions

  • Research and resolve all tax notices from federal, state and local agencies

  • Reconcile monthly, quarterly and annual taxes, amendments and W2-corrections

  • Complete multiple worksite reporting and respond to various state employment surveys i.e. BLS, OEWS

  • Ensure personnel updates and payroll tax changes are completed timely and accurately in all systems

  • Responsible for accurate and timely tax reporting to federal, state and local agencies

  • Respond to employee questions and requests in a courteous and timely manner by both phone calls and emails

  • Perform and assist with other tasks and duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Knowledge of payroll regulations and best practices, taxes and reporting requirements for US and Canada

  • Associates or bachelor's degree and/or related payroll or tax certification preferred

  • 5+ years of Payroll experience in a multi-state environment

  • 5+ years of Payroll tax experience required

  • Proficient computer skills with database payroll systems

Sherpa Benefits

  • Must be a full-time employee (30+ weekly hours/+130 hours per month) to be eligible
