Rummel Construction, Inc. is a Heavy Civil General Contractor, working across multiple sectors within the public and private markets. We are seeking a full time Payroll Specialist with the ability to ensure weekly processing and recording of company's payroll, provide timely and accurate financial information and participate in the daily data entry payroll processing. The ideal candidate must possess a professional demeanor, attention to detail, and the ability and initiative to work independently. Key duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:

Job Duties:

  • Perform daily payroll department operations.

  • Input and process payroll data from mobile and paper-based timesheets.

  • Manage workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely.

  • Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, direct deposits, pay cards and approving requests in Employee Self Service Portal.

  • Compare PTO requests and PTO balances to ensure correct submission, resolving any PTO discrepancies before processing payroll.

  • Handle processing of garnishments which includes reviewing, responding and ensuring compliance.

  • Process Certified Payrolls and work with local agencies to ensure company compliance.

  • Maintain employee confidence and protect payroll operations by keeping information confidential.

  • Resolve payroll discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.

  • Provide payroll information by answering questions and requests.

  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4+ years of Construction Payroll experience

  • Experience with using web based timekeeping software preferably HCSS

  • High level of data entry (high accuracy required)

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state payroll-related regulations

  • Interpersonal communication skills and ability to communicate with various levels of management

  • Decision-making, problem-solving and analytical skills

  • Organizational, multi-tasking, and prioritizing skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of Viewpoint Construction Software preferred

  • Certified Payroll experience
