Payroll Specialist

PathPoint, a leader in supporting people with disabilities and mental health diagnoses in living the life they choose, is seeking a full-time Payroll Specialist to join our team. This position is a hybrid remote/in-office position in one of our office locations in Santa Barbara, SLO, L.A., Kern, and Ventura. What You'll Do:

• Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, garnishments, taxes, and other deductions.

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll updates including but not limited to new hires, separations, employment changes.

• Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions.

• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws.

• Answer questions from employees regarding paycheck amounts, deductions, leave accruals, direct deposit, and other concerns.

• Other duties as assigned.

Who We're Looking For:

• Someone with at least 3 years of experience processing payroll from start to finish for a large organization.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.

• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.

• Thorough knowledge of payroll-related laws and regulations.

• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, and related software.

• Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization's payroll system.

• Culturally competent and aware of differences in employees based on cultural backgrounds; aware of one's own culture and how someone's background may lead to biases; has the skills and resources needed to work with employees from all different cultures and backgrounds; and the ability to avoid making biased assumptions based on someone's culture, appearance, or background.

Schedule: Mon-Fri normal business hours.

Location: Hybrid remote/in-office

Pay: This is an hourly position starting at $24-$28 per hour. The pay range is $20.70-$31.05 an hour (subject to change based on a variety of factors).
