The Payroll Specialist will perform tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records.

  • Respond and research issues that arise via the Payroll Service Center (e.g. email and phone) (35%)
  • Review, corrects and enters timekeeping records for compliance within established standards (30%)
  • Process off-cycle payrolls as necessary for payroll corrections or adjustments; complete on-demand checks including final pay; ensure final pay complies with Company and State requirements (15%)
  • Enter accurate banking account information and W4 data (10%)
  • Maintain payroll records and perform entry including tax status, garnishments,support orders, banking information, etc. (5%)
  • Produce and distribute management reports (5%)

Experience:

  • 3 to 5 Years of relevant work experience.

Education & Certifications:

  • Associate Degree with Accounting, Finance or Business Related Field of Study preferred. High School Graduate required. Other Education / Certifications: FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) designation preferred

VIEW JOBS 8/31/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-11-29T00:00 Overview The Senior Payroll Specialist ensures all processes are executed appropriately and in a timely manner. Operates as the subject matter expert and escalation point to resolve issues and continuously looks for improvements in operational processes and designs and implements those initiatives. This individual manages effective internal and external client relationships within own area of responsibility and builds client relationships in the wider group or unit. Responsibilities Responsibilities: * Process weekly, quarterly, and annual multi-state taxes including local, state, and federal returns * Setup tax accounts for new PEO clients or when entering a new state * Processes monthly workers' compensation reports for carriers * Administers workers' compensation claims; maintains medical control, returns the injured employee to work and works closely with the insurance carrier * Gathers information necessary for workers' compensation audits & reviews final audit * Assists Payroll Specialists with timely and accurate processing of internal and external client payrolls * Monitors and audits employee deductions and other payroll changes, running reports to ensure accurate data entry * Oversee benefit deduction reconciliations, working with PEO Accountant and Benefits Coordinator * Setup all benefit master policies within the payroll system for all internal and external plans * Provides superior service to clients. * Updates and maintains general ledger and accounting codes within the payroll system * Leads new client set up and implementation * Documents standard operating procedures * Updates policies and procedures as needed * Resolves miscellaneous tax issues and notices Other Responsibilities: * Adheres to the policies and procedures of PEOple Premier * Maintains strict confidentiality of client, company and personnel information * Demonstrates a strong commitment to the mission and values of the organization * Adheres to company attendance standards * Performs other duties as assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: none Qualifications Competencies: * Strong organizational and interpersonal skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills * Detail oriented * Ability to multi-task * Ability to organize, prioritize and handle multiple work assignments * Ability to work independently and in a team environment * Demonstrated knowledge of payroll practices * Sound knowledge of accounting and payroll tax procedures Education and/or Experience: * A minimum of five (5) years of payroll experience is required, preferably in a multi-client environment. * A minimum of five (5) years of experience processing payroll tax returns & deposits. * Worker's Compensation experience a plus. * Professional Employer Organization (PEO) a plus. * An associate degree in Business, Finance or Accounting is required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
