Job Summary

The incumbent is responsible for inputting master file information into EV5/eTime v8.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Utilize ADP system to input master file information.

  • Work closely with field human resources, supervisors, and managers in maintaining accuracy of employee payroll, and time keeping information.Ensures that all system tasks are completed by the appropriate person.

  • Ensures timely and accurate processing of payroll for various site locations.

  • Review payroll system to detect and reconcile payroll discrepancies.

  • Keep informed about changes in tax and deduction laws that apply to the payroll process.

  • Provide information to managers to update them and resolve payroll issues.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Persuasive communication skills necessary to collect essential information, answer questions, and direct callers to appropriate personnel in a professional and courteous manner.

  • Developed interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other business areas and government agencies as required.

  • Planning and organizational skills necessary to coordinate workload around complex, multiple assignments.

  • Basic knowledge of computerized applications, for example, word processing, spreadsheet, database, and presentation software .

  • Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations.

  • ADP v5, ADP Reporting, Enterprise eTime v8

Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 2- 3 years of experience with ADP processing multi-state payroll

  • Experience with eTime time keeping system

Additional Desired Qualifications

  • Associate's Degree
  • FPC
  • CPP

Physical Requirements

Physical demands with activity or condition requiring a considerable amount of time include sitting and typing/keyboarding using a computer (i.e., keyboard, mouse, and monitor) or adding machine.Physical demands may include walking, carrying, reaching, standing, and stooping.May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, or pulling up to 25 lbs.

Job Description: Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4) Salary: $57,000 The Office of Strategic Research Initiatives (OSRI) enables the successful implementation and execution of the campus research strategy and initiatives as developed by the faculty and senior administration, and in line with the campus road map. OSRI is seeking a research development specialist to work with the University community to position university programs and collaborative efforts for successful external funding. Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Strategic Research Initiatives, the Research Development Specialist will work with identified faculty teams on the development of large multidisciplinary proposals which advance Binghamton's strategic research initiatives, with a focus on the science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) disciplines and that take advantage of the work of the Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence (TAEs) and other University efforts. The Research Development Specialist will work closely with the Office of Sponsored Programs and will collaborate with campus constituencies involved in grant-funding activities. Specific Responsibilities: * Support the AVP and senior administration in identification of large funding opportunities for campus research centers and initiatives, based on established campus research strategies * Work closely with faculty, staff and external partners in developing, writing, editing and reviewing large value grant proposals to identified external sponsors * Serve as an OSRI Representative on one or more of the Transdisciplinary Areas of Excellence. Develop models to support the TAE's growth of research and scholarly activities in their areas of purview * Develop workshops for faculty to enhance research capacity development efforts * Work with faculty teams on development of proposals to external sponsors for establishment and outfitting of University core facilities * Develop a broad knowledge of Binghamton University faculty, research, contacts and resources * Attend partnership meetings on and off campus, and work collaboratively with proposal writers from other campuses Requirements: * Master's degree required * Minimum of 5 years experience in science and/or engineering research and/or science and/or engineering program management in higher education or industry * Excellent writing, analytical and research skills are essential * Fluency with Mircosoft Word, Excel and Power Point * Ability to seek and synthesize information and communicate in a compelling and succinct way * Comfort with regular interaction with senior administration officials, students, faculty, staff and the community * Must work well within a collaborative, team environment and maintain confidentiality * Ability to exercise independent judgement in responding to inquiries, display tact and sensitivity and be solution-driven * Demonstrated experience assessing program effectiveness Preferred * Ph.D. preferred, preferably in a physical science or engineering field Additional Information: Offers of employment may be contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment background check and verification of degree(s) and credentials.
