The Payroll Specialist will provide administrative and analytical support to the Payroll function for Celgene Mexico, Brazil and backup for the Canada payrolls. This position will support the team during payroll processing and be responsible for and requires strong analytical skills, with strong attention to detail, fast and accurate data entry skills, and the ability to assist with keeping the entire function in focus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts as liaison with vendor on all payroll issues.

  • Communicate with HR-Ops and HR-Bp in Mexico and Brazil

  • Audits all payroll transactions data linked to Payroll System prior to Payroll completion and any additional special entries required

  • Provides support for year-end functions as well as aid remaining team members as needed during high volume situations such W2 season.

  • Processes pay for all leaves types

  • Responsible for tax related items for the countries

  • Preview Pay Registers totals from the vendor and detail for accuracy, makes final changes prior to finalizing last transmissions.

  • Signoff on Payroll for Mexico and Brazil

  • Process Canada payroll as a backup

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ensures compliance with employee record keeping requirements.

  • Ensures payroll compliance with Company Policies, and regulations.

  • Investigate and resolve all complex payroll issues or discrepancies.

  • Assists with special projects as needed.

  • Prepares various Special Calculations such as terminations, new hires, salary changes, etc.

  • Responsible for creating and maintaining written instructions for payroll processes.

KEY SUCCESS FACTORS: EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Workday payroll preferred.

  • A minimum of 2-4 years of Mexico and Brazil country regulation

  • Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality.

  • Excel skills required.

  • Excellent oral and written communication clear and concise; uses good grammar.

  • Experience with Microsoft Outlook required.

  • Flexible scheduling to meet processing demands.

  • General understanding of required compliance with legal, regulatory and financial requirements governing functional tasks and activities.

  • Good interpersonal skills, able to work in a team environment.

  • Intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills required.

  • Organizational, time management and communication skills - ability to manage multiple functions simultaneously.

  • Positive attitude and strong customer focus; Ability to communicate to all employee levels.

  • Quick thinker; Uses sound judgment.

  • Results oriented, strong sense of urgency, proactive.

  • Self starter and independent problem solver. Able to anticipate next steps.
