Description
Position Title: Payroll Specialist
Department: Employee Services
Reports To: Director of Employee Services
FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt
Hours: 40 per week
Rate of Pay: $20 per hour
Position Summary:
The Payroll Specialist provides several supportive functions to the Human Resources department and is responsible for being proficient in the Seminary's payroll system. The Specialist processes payroll and payroll corrections, initiates and completes onboarding for all employees, addresses payroll inquiries and assists in troubleshooting, maintains accurate payroll records, reviews timecards, assists with audits, and other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions:
Employee Payroll
Onboard new employees by entering pay, accrual, benefit, etc. information into Paycom.
Processes biweekly and monthly payrolls including retroactive payments, bonuses, and any additional compensation
Timecard review and error correction
Produces and maintains accurate and timely payroll records and makes required payroll adjustments
Provides employment verification information
Addresses issues and inquiries regarding payroll from employees and supervisors
Obtains new term compensation sheets and payroll changes from each school department
Maintains quarterly HSA spreadsheets and processes Seminary contributions
Reviews and approves health benefits for payroll
Other Responsibilities:
Processes first reports of injury forms and manages claims/returns to work/etc.
Maintains a legal, efficient and accurate record keeping for personnel files, I-9 files, employee health files, etc. which complies with Federal, State and Institutional guidelines
Maintains the accuracy of Asbury Seminary's organizational chart along with holiday and pay schedules
Assists with employee benefit open enrollment process and annual retirement audit
Prepares and provides employee and payroll related data reports upon request
Prepares reports in response to institutional accreditation requests and various personnel/salary surveys (TATS, IPEDS)
Prepares annual TIAA-CREF disclosures data
Prepares W-2s and 1095-Cs
Assists the HR Director with processes upon request
Track part time employees to ensure ACA compliance
Initiates Tuition Remission Process
Performs special projects as assigned
Financial Responsibility/Authority
Completes departmental requests for payments as needed
Makes petty cash purchases as needed

Education/Certification/Training/Experience
A minimum of three years of related office experience, human resource/payroll experience preferred
Skilled in use of Microsoft Word and Excel.
Strong organizational and communication skills
Comfortable navigating data entry and record keeping
Must have the ability to organize and prioritize work and problem solve
Must be able to maintain confidentiality, due to highly sensitive nature of personnel and financial records
