Position Summary:
As an integral part of the Payroll team, the Payroll Manager is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll in addition to payroll-related reporting for 2,000+ employees over a multi-state area. The ideal candidate for this role will be a self-starter who has experience with a variety of payroll systems and can manage competing priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Process and issue employee paychecks and statements of earnings and deductions on a weekly and biweekly basis, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll updates
Manage processing of various incentive program bonuses
Assemble after payroll reporting such as GL report
Prepare and maintain accurate records and reports of payroll transactions
Manage uncashed check process
Implement, maintain, and review payroll processing systems to ensure timely and accurate processing of payroll transactions
Review payroll documentation for accuracy through UKG audit reports and make any necessary adjustments as needed
Responsible for auditing and approving timecard changes in the Workforce Management system
Review timesheet status and follow up on missing and unapproved timesheets and leave requests
Maintain a variety of records, check for accuracy and completeness, and collect data for reporting and runs regular data audits
Handle administrative tasks and requests related to payroll and the UKG HRIS including resetting passwords, reviewing the accuracy of all data and deductions, and ensuring proper documentation is uploaded to employee electronic files
Assist with running reports from UKG Business Intelligence for use by HR and Accounting departments
Resolve payroll discrepancies by consistently gathering adjustments, calculating retro payments and follow up with management as needed
Set up and maintain new and current state payroll tax jurisdictions
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws and best practices
Complete year-end tasks including but not limited to W2 review and processing, ensuring earning & deduction codes are setup correctly
Identify and recommend updates to payroll processing software, systems, and procedures as needed
Assist with audits by providing records and documentation to auditors
Assist in special projects as assigned by management
Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:
5-7+ years of payroll experience in a high-volume and fast-paced setting
Prior experience running multi-state payroll and working with union environments
Experience using an HRIS, preferably UKG Pro
Proficient using Microsoft Excel, especially VLOOKUPs and Pivot tables
Strong understanding of federal and state laws related to garnishment processing, reporting and compliance
Organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through
Excellent data entry and data cleaning skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and willingness to help a large employee base
Proven ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload in a busy environment
Strong sense of integrity and adherence to all prescribed ethical guidelines, including confidentiality
