Based out of San Francisco, you will help process payroll and assist in equity administration for all Gusto employees. You will be empowered by the Controller and serve as a foundational member of the accounting team. What you'll do:
Own the payroll process for a payroll company!
Process multi-state payroll for both salaried and non-exempt employees, including ownership of our payroll and time-tracking systems
Manage inbound communications in a timely manner, responding to all shapes and sizes of employee inquiry
Cross-functionally manage the onboarding and updating of employee information across systems
Help to develop a strong functioning control framework around the payroll process
Manage the day-to-day of our 401(k) plan
Work with our TPA to determine employee contributions each pay period
Assist with the annual 401(k) audit
Assist in equity administration
Develop and execute a long-term plan to build full-cycle stock admin process
Work with our legal team to update our cap table
Be an integral part of the option grant and exercise process
Be a solution provider
Your co-workers will have payroll questions, and you'll have answers
Work internally & externally to research and document payroll compliance & tax matters
Scale the team
You've done this role in both an IC and manager role, and are ready to start building again
What you've done & who you are:
Spent 7+ years administering internal payroll, pre-ipo stock options, 401(k)
CPP and/or CPE preferred, but not required
Worked with advanced HRIS/Payroll systems, including implementation of an enterprise-level solution. Workday experience necessary; Gusto experience definitely a plus, but not necessary.
Maintained equity management tools (e.g. Shareworks, Equity Edge, etc.)
Identified, designed and assisted in the implementation of payroll related controls. SOx implementation a plus.
Thoughtfully built a team to support company growth needs
Demonstrated the ability to independently and thoroughly research complex payroll issues
