Position Summary
The Payroll Manager oversees the payroll process for the organization's multi-state weekly payroll functions, ensuring pay is processed on time, accurately, and in compliance with government regulations.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities
Audit weekly payroll for 1,000 employees in 7 different company codes to ensure accuracy before transmission
Make necessary adjustments or corrections through journal entries or other established procedures
Generate weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports of earnings, taxes, and deductions
Exercise judgment within defined procedures and propose appropriate solutions
Adherence to all relevant payroll, employment, income tax laws, regulations, and operating guidelines
Ensure that all ADP general ledger payroll interfaces and uploads are accurate
Respond to payroll inquiries and report requests from internal stakeholders
Register with required jurisdictions to ensure tax compliance as needed
Handle all ADP payroll invoices, problems, improvements, implementation of any new system, upgrades or module(s)
Perform year-end tasks, record fringe benefits, process special runs and adjustments
Trouble shoot time clock issues and replace when needed
Regularly identify process improvements leading to greater department efficiencies
Corporate credit card administrator that handles expense report processing, credit card reconciliation, journal entries, vendor payments, general ledger clean-up and ordering new cards
Responds to requests for information necessary for compliance with audits and the annual budget
Reconcile the employee receivables account monthly
Monthly entries in the general ledger for various payroll and accrual entries
Support the HR team and maintain an effective working relationship
Able to anticipate and independently solve problems
Special payroll and accounting projects as needed

Education
Experience/Skills/Abilities Required
5 years of experience as a Payroll Manager in a similar size company
Knowledge of ADP Workforce Now
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
A combination of training and experience considered equal to the above
Proficient in Microsoft particularly Excel
High degree of professionalism
Ability to deal sensitively with confidential material
Excellent interpersonal (verbal and written) communication skills
Work Environment/Physical Demands
Typical office environment - moderate noise level. This position regularly requires standing; walking; sitting; use hands; reaching with hands and arms; and talking and/or hearing. Occasional lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.
