JEVS Human Services is looking for a Director of Payroll. JEVS Human Services has 1,000 employees and two dozen successful programs providing skills development, job readiness & career services, vocational rehabilitation, recovery services, adult residential and community participation services, and in-home personal assistance.

Job Duties:

  • Administering and managing all aspects of a multi-state/multi-entity payroll for 2,000 + employees (salaried and hourly).

  • Designing, preparing, distributing and reporting payroll, including but not limited to the calculation of wages, overtime, benefit deductions, garnishments, taxes, etc., to ensure compliance with federal, state and local laws.

  • Creating custom reporting through ADP / ULTIPRO or Excel as needed to meet deadlines and support other departments.

  • Managing and maintaining the time card system for all employees; including training users, set-up of user accounts and maintenance of data and user groups in the system.

  • Performing reconciliations, audits against non-payroll systems, and ensuring compliance with policies, procedures and applicable rules and regulations.

  • Managing regular preparation of complex management reports, including biweekly, monthly, quarterly and year-end reports (gross payroll, hours worked, overtime, vacation accrual, tax deductions, benefits deductions, etc.).

  • Facilitating meetings for the purpose of identifying appropriate actions, developing recommendations, and supporting other staff in all payroll related matters.

  • Attending meetings for the purpose of collaborating, conveying and/or receiving information required to perform payroll functions.

  • Developing and conducting training for internal and external staff and clients on payroll related processes, systems and procedures.

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Accounting highly preferred. Appropriate work experience may be considered in lieu of college degree.

  • 5+ years' experience managing a payroll department, including supervision and hands on responsibilities.

  • ADP Enterprise /ULTIPRO and Kronos Timekeeper experience preferred.

  • Knowledgeable of accounting procedures and concepts, including required interface between payroll and general ledger and other sources.

  • Working experience and knowledge of payroll taxes at the federal, state and local levels.

  • American Payroll Association certification highly preferred.

  • Ability to interface and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, managers, vendors, consultants, and advisors.

  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel.
