Job Description:
Your Piece of the Puzzle

As Nebraska Furniture Mart's Payroll Database Administrator you will be responsible for developing, implementing, updating and maintaining systems administration responsibilities for payroll processing; sales compensation; 401(k), and timekeeping systems.

Job Duties: A Day in the Life

  • Lead: Serve as resource and backup for interface of data in the required sequence, for accurate and timely processing of payroll and distribution of related data and respective disbursements

  • Enhance: Identify and manage implementation of improvements to respective applications and software

  • Adapt: Ensure applications are configured as needed to facilitate changes in compensation or benefit plans

  • Report: Prepare, analyze and distribute biweekly comparative labor analyses reports

  • Collaborate: Work with Payroll Staff, various vendors and internal partners to confirm efficient and timely data communication and transfer of data between the systems

  • Monitor: Audit and review work to ensure accuracy of processes/pay and assist in preparing labor budgets and forecasts

  • Backup: Support Payroll in various functions such as, computing pay, reviewing payroll, auditing garnishments, direct deposit reversals, off-cycle paychecks, auditing time records etc.

The DBA makes sure databases have the qualities of data remaining consistent across databases, data is clearly defined, users are able to access data concurrently in a form aligned with needs, and provides for data security and recovery. This position works to coordinate database development as part of a cross functional project team. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Identifies database requirements by interviewing stakeholders, analyzing product applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems. Recommends solutions by diagnosing and defining database physical structure and functional capabilities, and implementing database security, data back-up, and recovery specifications. Installs revised or new systems by proposing specifications and flowcharts; recommending optimum access techniques; and coordinating installation requirements. Maintains database performance by calculating optimum values for database parameters; implementing new releases; completing maintenance requirements; evaluating computer operating systems and hardware products. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, and benchmarking state-of-the-art practices. Willingness to do all levels of work when required. This includes taking on-call support rotation.
