Magna Exteriors offers a variety of products for the automotive, commercial transportation, consumer and industrial markets. We are an industry leader in molding, painting and assembly, with expertise in developing exterior systems and modules for our customers' global programs.

Job Introduction

This position reports directly to the Sr. Generalist with indirect reporting to the Division Controller and is responsible for the general and specific job duties as described below:

Major Responsibilities

  • To exhibit an objective, fair and professional attitude that exemplifies the principles outlined in The MAGNA Employee's Charter to maintain a positive and productive workplace.

  • To follow Decostar policies and display conduct expected of Decostar employees as described in the employee handbook.

  • To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace.

  • To Understand the employee's rights under the OSHA Act, EEOC, FLSA and do not allow for discrimination against any employee exercising their rights.

  • Always use appropriate Personal Protective Equipment to set good workplace standards and ensure all employees maintain those standards.

  • To follow safety rules of Decostar and work in a manner that is conducive to maintaining a safe and healthful workplace including: training of new employees, reporting unsafe acts or conditions and correcting or commending health and safety performance.

  • Ensure that all accidents or injuries are reported immediately and actively participate in the accident investigation and completion of all open action items.

  • Ensure that you follow company policies and business objectives in the daily supervision of the operations of the company.

  • To exhibit teamwork and leadership skills and actively participate in team activities in a positive working environment.

  • To demonstrate problem solving skills in a work environment that is striving for continuous improvement.

  • To support all customer quality standards as well as the standards of Decostar.

  • To perform daily cross-functional job assignments as required and per the department's established procedures and work instructions.

  • Maintain the highest of confidentiality and integrity in all dealings.

  • Communicate in a professional manner with all Magna Employees.

  • Process accurate and timely bi-weekly payrolls and additional payrolls as needed.

  • Work closely with department supervisors to ensure employee time and attendance records are accurate and results produce correct pay for employees.

  • To have an attention to detail and ability to reason and problem solve.

  • To meet specific deadlines as required by the Sr. Generalist and Controller.

  • Process pay adjustments, voluntary deductions, and wage attachments including garnishments, tax levies, bankruptcies and child supports.

  • Data entry of employee changes such as but not limited to direct deposit, taxes, address, status changes, pay changes and shift changes.

  • Responsible for data integrity in ADP and frequent audits to ensure data is correct.

  • Responsible for maintaining all payroll processing reports, documents and files in such a manner they meet Magna audit requirements.

  • Prepare general ledger file for submission to finance department each payroll.

  • Assist and/or lead trainings to Decostar Management/Supervisors on proper use of ADP.

  • Manage manager/supervisor team access in ADP and make changes as necessary.

  • Responsible for maintaining accurate files for all wage attachments as well as interaction with various agencies as needed.

  • To calculate and issue manual checks.

  • Submit 401K employee payroll contributions to Principal and maintain those records for annual 5500 reporting to corporate.

  • Assist employees with set up of ADP Self Service and password resets.

  • Assist in month end close by preparing necessary reports as requested by the Sr. Generalist or Controller.

  • Lead or assist in the implementation of computer systems related to payroll, time and attendance and reporting.

  • Work extended hours as necessary to meet deadlines or as special projects necessitate.

  • Perform other duties as directed.

Knowledge and Education

  • Basic knowledge of personal computers, advanced knowledge of Excel and Microsoft Word

  • Basic knowledge of accounting for a manufacturing business a plus.

  • High School Diploma

  • Certification in Payroll or Human Resources preferred

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.

Work Experience

  • 2-5 years' experience processing payroll.

  • Experience with ADP Payroll Systems and Time and Attendance preferred.

May perform a variety of facilities and maintenance duties such as processing work orders for maintenance, coordinating moves, taking inventory and ensuring adequate supplies, or maintaining a warehouse. May answer telephones, direct calls, and take messages. May maintain and update filing, inventory, mailing, and database systems, either manually or using a computer. May open, sort, and route incoming mail, answer correspondence, and prepare outgoing mail. May compile, copy, sort, and file records of office activities, business transactions, and other activities. May compute, record, and proofread data and other information, such as records or reports. May review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests.
