Job Summary: This position is responsible for preparing and processing bi-weekly payrolls for multiple entities and states.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Submit, review, and accept payrolls under the direction of the Director of Payroll
Establish and maintain employee payroll records
Manage and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards and applicable law
Assist with miscellaneous internal audits
Calculate and record payroll deductions
Validate employee profile changes including pay increases, department transfers, and position changes
Enter employee changes into HRIS system such as tax status and time position information
Process involuntary deductions, such as garnishments and wage levies
Calculate final paychecks, process quick calculations, and manual checks as required
Create and run reports within HRIS system
Assist with payroll system maintenance
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.
Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in a relevant field from a four-year college or university
Experience:
Two or more years of multi-state payroll processing experience
Knowledge of payroll administration principles and practices
Working payroll tax experience at the federal, state, and local levels
Technical Skills:
Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency
Proficiency with and/or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS system
Soft Skills:
Highly organized and detail orientated
Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information
Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Superior time management skills
Excellent judgement and problem-solving skills
Ability to work with all levels of management and staff
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing
Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements
Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day
Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day
May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
