Job Summary: This position is responsible for preparing and processing bi-weekly payrolls for multiple entities and states.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Submit, review, and accept payrolls under the direction of the Director of Payroll

  • Establish and maintain employee payroll records

  • Manage and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards and applicable law

  • Assist with miscellaneous internal audits

  • Calculate and record payroll deductions

  • Validate employee profile changes including pay increases, department transfers, and position changes

  • Enter employee changes into HRIS system such as tax status and time position information

  • Process involuntary deductions, such as garnishments and wage levies

  • Calculate final paychecks, process quick calculations, and manual checks as required

  • Create and run reports within HRIS system

  • Assist with payroll system maintenance

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or ability required.

Education: Bachelor's degree (B.A.) in a relevant field from a four-year college or university

Experience:

  • Two or more years of multi-state payroll processing experience

  • Knowledge of payroll administration principles and practices

  • Working payroll tax experience at the federal, state, and local levels

Technical Skills:

  • Computer and Microsoft Office proficiency

  • Proficiency with and/or the ability to quickly learn the organization's HRIS system

Soft Skills:

  • Highly organized and detail orientated

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of information

  • Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment under tight deadlines

  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills

  • Superior time management skills

  • Excellent judgement and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work with all levels of management and staff

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing

  • Must have a valid driver's license and a driving record that meets Company requirements

  • Sitting at a desk for 6-8 hours a day

  • Working on a computer for 6-8 hours a day

  • May be required to work long and unpredictable hours
