PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Primarily responsible for providing administrative support for all payroll functions.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Perform tasks to establish and maintain employee/payroll records.

  • Check and audit timekeeping records for compliance with established standards, maintaining time and attendance records.

  • Primarily responsible for administration of WGPS services:

  • Perform routine administrative activities (e.g. open/distribute mail, prepare letters, file documents, etc.).

  • Receive liens/child support orders from plant locations and/or counts, identify employee's plant location, and enter payee names into payroll system.

  • Perform payroll transactions related to garnishments to include set-up, data entry, garnishment interpretation, updating deductions data according to established timelines and SOPs.

  • Provide answers to garnishments and/or court notices as required within prescribed time limits.

  • Interact with various departments within and outside (e.g. check collection agency, court, lawyer, etc.) answering questions and resolving issues.

  • Respond to routine inquiries from employees concerning garnishment deductions.

  • Effectively examine, setup, process and reconcile garnishments.

  • Keep current with changing procedures and legislation.

  • Escalate non-routine inquiries and issues to Manager.

  • Adhere to state and federal guidelines when handling garnishment orders.

  • Scan, email, and copy letters to plant payroll for employee file.

  • Responsible for timely/accurate payments to agencies for WGPS deductions from employees pay.

  • Primarily responsible for administration of hourly payroll services:

  • Perform routine audits of hourly payroll in Workday.

  • Process all hourly EIBs from all locations. Receive, load and distribute payroll information from payroll system to locations.

  • Download payroll reports after completion of payroll.

  • Enter in payroll data such as gift cards, manual checks, deduction in arrears, etc.

  • Assist payroll coordinators at locations with questions and troubleshooting issues that arise with payroll processing

  • Run SSNVS for all hourly and salary employees company wide.

  • Perform all direct deposit reversals, bank rejects, stop payments and voided checks for the hourly population and work with field payroll to get accurate account information from employees.

  • Perform other special projects and duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • None. This is an individual contributor position. Competencies required: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly and Interpersonal Savvy.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.

  • 1 year relevant payroll experience.

  • Good math and accounting aptitude.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • FPC certification

  • Workday payroll processing experience.

  • Timekeeping experience.

REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of processing liens, garnishments, etc.

  • Intermediate computers skills using email, MS programs (Excel spreadsheets and Word).

  • Demonstrated strong customer service skills.

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

  • High work capacity, dependable, results oriented and strong sense of urgency.

  • Excellent organizational skills, with precise attention to detail.

  • Demonstrated sound work ethic, high degree of personal integrity, honesty and moral character.

REQUIRED PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS:

  • Critical thinking skills in standardized situations as well as non-routine problems.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously and prioritize work accordingly.

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Frequently sit for long periods of time utilizing office equipment and/or computers.

  • Occasionally lifts up to 20 lbs.

  • Ability to work varying schedules (e.g. more than 8 hours/day, more than 40 hours/week, weekends, holidays, etc.) in support of plant schedules.
